Changes are coming, not just with the massive new Deer Valley resort, but with improvements being made at Park West. The Red Pine Chalets currently being built there are designed for the steady visitor and tourist, unlike the Park Village housing. And the luxury lodge and hotel to be situated nearby insures that Park West will become a veritable anthill of recreational activity. The hotel and condos together could hold up to 2,136 people, The Red Pine condominiums are a series of identical eight-plexes, located near the southwest corner of the Park West area. But they're not an exercise in cookie-cutter living. From the deck of your particular unit, you might gaze west to the lofty slopes and ski runs of the resort; or you might survey the eastward sweep of the basin to 1-80. The cost of a unit, ranging from $62,000 to $109,000, depends on the kind of view it affords you, according to Jack Roberts, who is president of both Summit Recreation Inc., which runs the ski resort, and Snyderville Development Company, which is in charge of the condos. Roberts designed the condo floor plans, and his wife Marily planned the interior design and furniture for the finished units. The visitor will find plush carpets, soft chairs and sofas, innumerable in-numerable cushions, and beds that Bigfoot could sink into up to his neck. The units in Phase I of Red Pine are laid out in green or red color schemes. A brown design will be available in units built later. In each of the eight-plexes, the first floor consists of four one-bedroom units able to accommodate four people. (One bedroom plus a hide-abed in the living room). The bathroom, dining room, and kitchen area are connected con-nected via the unit's circular spacing (see diagram). The second floor of each eight-plex will comprise four two bedroom units that will accommodate eight people. This unit has the same floor plan as the smaller units. But, in addition, a stairway leads up to another bedroom (with its own bath) which is like a cross between an attic and a third floor. This third-floor area also has a small alcove which can afford space for another bed. The Red Pine condos supply the luxurious essentials. For recreation, you head for the Park West slopes or to the Red Pine Lodge right next to the condos. Plans for the three-story lodge also provide for three swimming pools and four tennis courts (maybe more nearby. The line for condo dwellers at poolside or by the courts might be i long one. A 258-room hotel will bt rising just north of the Red Pin' development and will be bringing eve,1 more sports lovers into the artu Hopefully, they'll be occupied with ac tivitiesat the hotel. Roberts hopes to begin construction next summer.
