Have you made any New Decade Resolutions for the 1980s? i Luis Carbonell I really don't make resolutions at New Year's. Sometimes I think I'll make a resolution, but I'd never keep it. Any time of the year you can make a resolution and it might work. It doesn't have to be on New Year's. Pierre DeLawter At my age, I hope to survive sur-vive the decade. My resolution is to keep on living. Michele Low How about, paying my bills. Either that or never checking my post office box. And I'm making a resolution to have more fun. Cary Oaks To try to make it, with the rate of inflation, and still enjoy myself. I'd hate to have to give up going to the mountains and enjoying en-joying them. Peter Simpson I've made one. I'm moving from California to Utah. I've already bought two places up here. As soon as I've got business taken care of down there, I'm moving up here. Wendy Van Reyper I hope the next decade is just as good. I've had so much fun during the last decade. I'm looking forward to another one. Deadline Draws Near For Wireless Kail-letter Kontest choice has been KOKE. "I certainly have nothing against KOKE, unfortunately unfor-tunately a station in Austin Texas already has it," reported Feulner. KFUN has also been a popular entry, but a Las Vegas station got it first; ditto dit-to for KLUV, now licensed to Hanesville, Louisiana. Other popular choices that have been taken by other stations include KING (Seattle), (Seat-tle), KSKY (Dallas), KSIL (Silver City, New Mexico) and KDIG ( San Bernadino ) . left the road. The Other Side of the Depot Story Editor: v Since my name ( Mel Fletcher) Flet-cher) was bandied about in a pre-trial news article that was obvious pro-depot developer "slanted" with no one to show the other side of the coin, I feel justified to set some facts. I went to the first Planning Commission meeting when the depot project was presented. At that time I told those making the presentation presen-tation that the walk-way they had planned was a maintained road and that I was going to assert my rights; to be able to drive in to my property and garage. This summer when it seemed obvious that the project was going to "takeover" "take-over" the road (the first pillar was set in the middle) I spoke to Wally Wright and again stated that he was blocking a road used by the public. A road way which ex Commendable Conviction Editor: I would like to commend Judge Larry Keller on his conviction of Messrs. Wallace Wright & John Prince on December 19, 1979. I sincerely hope the people of Park City will realize the importance of this decision. There are laws and avenues of recourse open to you when your local government ignores your pleas for assistance. I was present at the City Council meeting on September Septem-ber 6, 1979 when Mel Fletcher Flet-cher complained to the City Council that access to his garage and to the fire hydrant nearest his home was being blocked by the Depot Project's landscaping. lan-dscaping. The Mayor claimed along with the developers that Pacific Avenue was private property. proper-ty. The issue of a road being dedicated by public use was brought up and the Mayor indicated he knew of no such law. No one even bothered to ask the City Attorney to give an opinion. The implication, I suppose, is that if the Mayor is not aware of a law it does not exist. In light of Judge Keller's decision, it appears our city government is; a) ignorant of the law; b) Late Editor: We wish to take advantage of the column to wish you and all our very dear friends in Park City a very Merry Xmas and a Happy and Prosperous New Year. Mississippi may have the same call letters. Lists of call letters will be circulated at various places about town during the next few weeks. The following call letters FAMILY eACHfWW sovRe a 1 l W-A. m mii i tended to Eley Hollow where Dudleys reside. Later I appeared before the City Council and requested that they maintain the services that had been in affect for over 40 years; Mainly garbage pick-up, snow plowing and grading of the road. I received no indication in-dication that the services would be continued. It was at the Council meeting, that Mr. Jerry Kinghorn decided that the issue was a public one and needed some attention. A suit was filed, the people versus Wright & Prince. The result is clearly indicated. A judgement against those who chose to ignore the fact that the avenue was and should be regarded as a public thorough fare and maintained by the city. Mel Fletcher too lazy to investigate the law; c) does not care about the rights of citizens; or d) all of the above. There will be 3 new faces, on the City Council in January. I hope these people will bring with them a sensitivity sen-sitivity to the needs and rights of. all Park City's citizens. I found Mr. Prince's comments com-ments in the Salt Lake Tribune, (December 20, 1979) quite interesting. "I think it's an aesthetic decision that the town has4o make. If they make it a four lane highway, they've wiped out a potentially neat walkway." walk-way." I would like to know how Mr. Prince sees a city's providing necessary services, ser-vices, such as fire protection and garbage pickup as an "aesthetic decision". I wonder won-der what solace the residents of Easy Street, Diamond Hollow and Pacific Avenue would find, while watching their homes being "wiped out" by fire, in knowing that after the devastation, there would still be a "neat" walkway. In this case, Mr. Prince, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Maria Kinghorn Card Due to the requirement of the need for a P.O. Box number on letters, we felt this would insure all our friends that they would receive our greetings.
