Show 5 Thursday, March 1,1979 Page 10 Chamber Made Submitted by the Park City Chamber of Commerce The Chamber of Commerce was met with enthusiasm on February 22, by its newly elected board of directors.... direc-tors.... and from the elected town leaders emerged another select group of board leaders to tackle this year's community business concerns. Each official automatically assumes with his or her election the chairmanship of a major Chamber committee and will form support committees commit-tees from the remaining board and membership. Dick Wilde, newly elected president and chairman of Government Involvement for the 1979 year, should function as a continuation of accomplishments from his last reign as president of the Chamber in 1977. Dick was strategic in the passage of the 14 percent sales tax earmarked for Park City public transportation, passage of the Sewer Bond issue creating the Snyder-ville Snyder-ville Sewer Basin District, and instrumental in pushing the State Highway proposals to the front of the DOT for construction within Park City. Continued support of these issues will be an important im-portant function of this year's Government Committee. Com-mittee. But when asked about what new areas Dick was going to pursue, he responded.. .."The preservation preser-vation of Historic Main Street". However, he qualified his statement by stating.. .."This preservation must be more than just visual. There must also be a strong push for individual merchant responsibility to make the district worth shoppping. Other businesses from areas outside out-side of the Historic District should support its success and recognize its potential. All other ski resorts have lifts and mountains and lodges and restaurants, but only Park City has a 100-year-old mining town. ..probably the clinching clinch-ing draw to our area." A new leader on the Chamber board but not new to the board or to Park City is Bill Coleman of Coleman Land Company. After his strong statement about the Chamber's need to become "financially secure" he was promptly elected to the 1st . vice president post and chairmanship of Ways and Means (membership and 1551 q Mike McComb .
