Show THE Pag? 15 Wednesday, March 15, 1978 Four Racers Selected For Jr. Olympics LI'JI'litiliNlfiV'I'J Four Park City ski racers have been selected to compete com-pete in the Junior Olympics held at Squaw Valley, Calif., this week and two were chosen to race at the Junior Nationals in Sun Valley. In addition, two local racers 1? IX Tri-- -f Roxanne Toly were named as alternates for the Junior Olympic competition. The Junior Olympic slalom, giant slalom and downhill, being held at Squaw Valley March 13-19, will feature the nation's best 14-to-16-year-old skiers. Racers were chosen on their performances perform-ances in division races and all seven of the United States Ski Association's race divisions divis-ions will be represented. The Park City Ski Club racers competing at Squaw Valley are Roxanne Toly, Karri Hayes, Renee Lynn Farwig and Louie Leatham. Named as alternates were Susie Robinson, Caroline Wilson and Peter Donner. The Junior Nationals are held for skiers between the ages of 16 and 18 and feature slalom and giant slalom races only. Representing Park City will be Jody Robinson and Danielle Jensen. Other Intermountain Division Divis-ion skiers in the Junior Olympics are: Women Pam Koonce, Sun Valley; Heidi Hoffman, Nordic Nor-dic Valley; Christi Swanner, Sun Valley; Ingrid Gustaf-son, Gustaf-son, Sun Valley; and Susie Blair, Nordic Valley. He will assume full-time full-time responsibilities with the team on April 1 and will n?side in Park City, Utah. Originally from Zell Am See, Austria, Goellner has lived in the U.S. since 14. A former member of the Austrian 'B' Team and Austrian Junior Giant Slalom Champion in 1960, he was Head Ski Coach at Killington. Vermont from 1965-1968 and Ski School Director at Bromley, Vermont Ver-mont from 1969-1971. In 1966. he was second overall in the professional ski racing standings stan-dings for that season. Goellner has been Head Coach and Director of Racing at Stratton Mountain School since it was founded in 1972. A certified member of the Professional Ski In-stuctors In-stuctors of America (PSIA), Goellner has coached many members of the U.S. National Ski Team. Throughout his career, Goellner has had broad international in-ternational experience as a racer and coach in Europe, South America and the United States. This season he was with the Women's Team in Europe as an Associate Coach. Goellner will begin full time direction of the Women's Team at the beginning begin-ning of the Western Spring Series in Lake Tahoe, CaliforniaNevada April 2-7. During April, he will select the coaching staff who will work for him with the U.S. Women's Team. "I see this as a great challenge," said Goellner. "It is a difficult assignment but I have faced many similar situations in life. Years of work in athletics and ski racing gives me a good and positive feeling for this position, and I hope to be able to fulfill what is expected expec-ted of me as a coach." Alpine Team Director Hank Tauber said of Goellner. "I am particularly pleased that Hermann with his outstanding international credentials has joined our coaching staff. I have tremendous respect for him as a coach. I know he will give our Women's Team and coaching staff the leadership and direction which will help them fulfill their potential."
