Show Page 7 THE Wade and Reed Take Mixed Doubles Crown Kay W ade and Sydney Reed combined steady play with flashes of brilliance to capture cap-ture the Park City Racquet Club's mixed doubles championship cham-pionship over the weekend. Wade and Reed were tops in the "A" competition while the "B" mixed doubles crown was won by Marian Avers and Allen Holbrook. It was Wade and Reed against teaching pro Jim Anderson and Stella Redon-do Redon-do in the decisive final match of the day. Both teams had previously downed Bill and Nancy McComb and the Bob McBroom-Sue Hughes duo. The cagey Wade and the consistent Mrs. Reed were able to overcome the hard hitting of Anderson to post an eight games to five victory. Third place when to the McCombs. In the "B" competition. Mi Allen Holbrook and Marian Avers 3 1 To Try For Nordic Ski Team Thirty-one young seasoned and novice athletes will have the opportunity to prove themselves as they compete for the U.S. Nordic Ski Team during the 1977-78 FIS Championship year. Said U.S. Nordic director John Bower of the thirty-one named to the national Crosscountry Cross-country team for the forthcoming forth-coming season, "We have selected these athletes on the . basis of performance and ' potential demonstrated during the past season; both ' domestically and abroad. While there is no official international in-ternational point system at this time," he continued, "We have used the new 'Berman' system as our standard. Using the figure 100 as a base, it is similar in concept to the alpine point system." Park High Girl Takes Third In State Track CJ Bronze Medal Winner Kathy Ulrich Park High ninth grader Kathy Ulrich won a bronze medal in the state 1-A track finals held in Provo last Saturday. Ulrich leaped 15 75.25" in the long jump competition to take a third place, only four inches behind the winner. The first two places were taken by seniors, making the ninth grader's track future seem very bright. Three other Park City girls also qualified for the state finals. Eighth grader Diane Bur ns was a finalist in the 220-yard 220-yard run. ninth grader Roxanne Toly earned a spot in the mile run and tenth grader Karri Hayes was a 440-yard run entrant.
