' Use1 The structure. Which had its corner stone laid in 1939, has - been a ' recurring source of ' friction between the county and' city with both sides claiming inequities in its opeation. Leavitt contends the Memorial Building is used ' only by Park City residents and that the city should .assume 'the burden of administration and maintenance. mainten-ance. . , City officials have countered counter-ed . that although the county's commitment to the building is minimal it is one of the few tangible services Park City receives in return for the tax dollars it sends to " Summit County. " Park City Council members have also argued that county - financing of the hospital in Coalville could no longer be . justified if the Memorial Building funds are terminated. terminat-ed. . j,.-' .-,, Leavitt has agreed that a ; reassessment of the hospital funding might be in order. Plans The city council has not endorsed any single plan for resolving the controversy it has expressed a willingness ' to assume the administrative duties entailed in the building's build-ing's operation. " However, the focal point of the city-county tug-of-war will be the fnancial arrange- ment. The city is expected to push for a' continuation of county money budgeted for the Memorial Building, which both entities agree is in dire need of renovation.-Both renovation.-Both sides also claim they can't afford to underwrite the extensive repairs. A plan proposed by Leavitt would have the county allocate its usual $15000 next year, $10,000 the following year, $5000 the succeeding year and nothing after that time. This plan generated little enthusiasm among the city council. Hearing Park City Mayor Leon Uriarte has been soliciting public input from local citizens concerning alternative proposals for the building and the council is encouraging a large local turnout at the public hearing which will begin at 7 p.m. in the Summit County Courthouse. Court-house. " One informed source pre-, dieted that Commissioner Leavitt will circulate a questionnaire during the hearing, the results of which would be used to formulate a resolution. The source also speculated that a concerted effort is being made to gain a large' attendance from non-Park City areas. A ! request by the city council that the hearing be rescheduled- for December 1 in the Memorial Building was rejected by the county commissioners with Summit County Clery Reed Pace .explaining that he had already sent notices designating the time and place of the meeting to county newspapers. ' The Park City Council is, expected to review the matter once again at its November 18 meeting. Ambulance Crew Members Praised r .Three members of Park .
