The theft of contents and accessories in the automobile has become extremely frequent. In an effort ot help prevent our citizens from becoming victims of this type of crime, the Park City Police Department would like to make several inexpensive suggestions. The current American fascination for the-citizen-band radio has made it the hottest of targets for the auto-burlar. If you own a "C.B." we strongly recommend that you lock your car at all times. The two minutes, you spend getting a loaf of bread is more than enough time to lose your cherished equipment and anything else that be handy. We would like .to mention that, as an. added inexpensive precaution, the wide flat top portion of a standard-type door lock can easily be removed, (clipped or ground off) thus making entry to a vehicle with a coat hangar or similar device considerable more difficult. For those of us who are not so mechanically inclined, several custom accessory companies make inexpensive replacement locks with the same security advantage ad-vantage as of the above. Wing-windows, especially on trucks, are very commonly a point of entry. The standard fastener can be made considerable more secure by installing, in addition to it, a small hasp-typelock. hasp-typelock. We realize one of the above mentioned inexpensive "do it yourself" suggestions will make your vehicle theft proof, but the added hassle they give to a potential thief is a definate preventative measure. We are at your service Sgt. MikeCrowly lunch. Mankind really has it bad. Besides all this he was Hit - with old age, gossip, ignorance, hatred, prejudice, violence, work, cops, crime, temptation, pain, epedemic, poverty, and Helter Skelter. He was puzzled by the unknown, and what he did not know he felt was evil. So went down the snakes and spiders, the unexplored and the unexplained. Yet with all this man prevailed. He learned to cope. Because still with all this there was hope. NASA Spending In Utah Spending irt Utah by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration will be about four times higher in the coming year than ; in the previous one. . Senator Moss, chairman of the Senate Committee on Aeronautical and Space Sciences which oversees the space agency and its programs, said the increase shows the grow ing impact that NASA parograms, particularly the space shuttle, are having on the economy of Utah. Research carried out with the shuttle is expected to produce important results in agriculture, mineral prospecting pros-pecting and water resources, among other areas in the I980's, The space agency estimates it will spend about $45 million in Utah in the 12 months ending next June 30 up from $16.5 million the previous year. . NASA also expects to spend an additional ad-ditional $10.8 million in the state between July and September of 1976 and anticipates an-ticipates this level of spending spen-ding will continue at least through 1978. . Utah universities received significant financial support from NASA and other federal agencies. The space agency made grants totalling $642,000 to universities in the state ofr the fiscal year ending en-ding June .'50. , M ITALIAN CUISINE an elegant hit casual atmosphere OPEN FOR DINNER NIGHTLY From 5:30 Till 10:30 MINI-BOTTLES AND WINE AVAILABLE LOUNGE OPEN TILL 2 AM by Quicksilvering Isn't it strange how some of the most interesting in-teresting suspense films come from real life? Who in their right mind would dream up a plot involving two young reporters uncovering an illegal conspiracy centered around the White House? Yet two reporters named Bernstein and Woodward lived the bizarre incidents recounted in Altthe Presidents Men, and thus created one of the most compelling dramas ever put on the, screen. ' All the Presidents Men is not a film about the-Watergate the-Watergate scandel. Instead the film focuses on . the investigative technique of "WoodsteinV and their ability to piece together a story from almost insignificant clues. By going through the dead alleys and fruitless searches with Bernstein and Woodward, the audience slowly realizes the tremendous scope of their in-vestigateve in-vestigateve reporting. Indeed, one begins to ask how anyone could fail to make a great film from such an absorbing story. It could be done, although All the Presidents Men took the story and converted it to the screen with a brilliance seldom seen in cinema. Out of necessity, the fim lost some details in the conversations from book to screen, but amazingly seemed to flesh out the characters of Bernstein and Woodward. It is a rare film that is almost totally satisfying eventhough one has read the book previously. Robert Redford and Dustin Hoffman play Woodward and Bernstein. Bedford's performance per-formance lacks his cute golden boy image in Presidents Men. The fact is, Redford does an excellent job of acting in the film, his acting talent being something that is usually overlooked in his media stereotype. Hoffman has long been regarded as an excellent character actor, and his performance in All the Presidents Men will , do nothing to change that image. All the acting in tHe film was consistently good, with Jack Warden and Jason Robards deserving particular mention as the editors who had the hot seat every time their young reporters came in with a new, even more starterling story. Director Alan J. Pakula kept the film moving at just the righ speed.creating a flick that held the audienees'atteifl The use of actual newsreel footage gave the film an eerie cinema verte quality, although Spiro Agenew's denunciation of the Post seems humorous instead of threatening as it should been; Pakula kept the film at the right level of intensity to make it a thriller. And all this was accomplished without a single violent fight or a bit of raw sex: : All the Presidents Men is already one of the finest films to be released this year. This chronicle of the press in action contains a lesson Tor everyone. It is odd that at the very moment the film is drawing large crowds to the theaters, Nixon apologists are attacking Bernstein and Woodward's . newest book, The Final Days, saying the book is nothing but unnamed sources repeating third person hearsay. Funny, that's what Spiro Agnew said. Gam Reads To Death Of Kaiparowite . Jake Garn said last week that he is 'utterly surprised" by Southern California Edison's decision to pull out of the Kaiparowits power project. "I had no communication with Southern Cal Edison or . any other of the proponents of the project prior to their decision," Senator Garn said. '"I. would think that after years of , Utah's congresssional delegations and other' elected officials putting their necks on the line ' for them that they would have the courtesy to tell us what they are doing and why. "All that aside, it seems to me that after all these years of struggle and cost that when we were within two weeks of "a decision that they would wait for that decision before taking such a drastic step. I'm for clean air and water but there has got to be a balance. It is time the American people start waking up to what is being . done to them in the name of clean air and water. Certanly we can't go back to the days when we didn't care what we built, where we built, or what we put into the air and water. But, again, there's got to be a balance. If 25 years ago we had had the Clean Air Act. NEPA and all these other rules that, in my opinion, are too restrictive. I would hat to think of what the economy of the country would be like. "I think organized labor should start getting on their people in Congress and letting let-ting them know what this is costing in the way of jobs. I think the unemployed and those oh welfare should start yelling too. because if this trend continues, we are goiiij to have excessive unemployment unem-ployment for years into the future. We can't totally stop the growth and development in the name of the environment. en-vironment. Along with environmental en-vironmental impact statements we should have economic impact statements because people are also part of the environment; They need to work, feed their children and buy clothing.
