They took a First in the Wat-"er Wat-"er race with Jim Green. Guy Walker, Ed Kresser, Donna Norman and Pat Fenton on uje. team. First in the Keyhole' with Ual Marshall, Kay (Joe) Fraugh-ton, Fraugh-ton, Boyd Ackerman, Lee Fenton, Fen-ton, Betty Walker. ' Walter Norman got second place in the Pole Bending event ev-ent and they took a third in the Pony Express with Shyrlan Whiteley, Bob Adamson, Walt Norman, Ual Marshall, Paul Maxfield. In the races Paul Maxfield rode Wall Norman's horse "Flicka" to third place In the mile. Ual Marshall rode his horse "Sunday Morning" to a third place in the 330-yard race. Bill Zimmerman took a 4th place on "Speckles" also in the mile race and also 4th on Zeke in the V mile. They took 4th place in the trailer race with Shyrlan White-ley White-ley and Paul Maxfield as a team. Boyd Ackerman and Jim Christensen took 3rd in the pairs pleasure, and Boyd also took third in the Mens Pleasure Horse. The club as a whole won 1st place, in the parades with 28 members riding and a first in the drill with 26 members riding. rid-ing. On the weekend of August 27-28 at the Region 3 Meet, also , held in Heber, the Roughouts took first in the Keyhole with Betty Walker, Ual Marshall, Kay Fraughton, Boyd Ackerman, Acker-man, Lee Fenton. Second in the Water race with Pat Fenton, Jim Green, Donna Norman, Guy Walker and Ed Kresser on that team. Walt Norman took second in the single pole-bending event. Boyd Ackerman and Jim Christensen Chris-tensen will go to the state meet as alternate in the Pairs Pleasure Pleas-ure class. The state meet will be held in Salt Lake City the weekend of Sept. 10 and 11 at the State JTair, and those plac-ing plac-ing at the region meet will participate. par-ticipate. Other recent activities , for the Roughouts include swimming swim-ming party at Sartoga and supper sup-per twice up American Fork Canyon. They are also looking forward to a breakfast and ride up American Fork Canyon on Saturday, Sept. 18. He was born June 29, 1904 in Castle Gate, Carbon County, the son of Oliver and Ada Agar Sutch. He married Eliza Mary Kav-anaugh Kav-anaugh on May 6, 1961, in Salt Lake City. A resident of Utah all of his life, he attended Castle Cas-tle Gate schools and was a graduate of Carbon High School in Price. He was employed in the mines in Carbon County as a young man. He entered the U.S. Army in World War II, where he served in Europe for three years. Following Fol-lowing his discharge in 1945, he was employed at Timpanogos Motor Co. Body Shop, Zufelt Motor in American Fork and Tri-CHy Motor, also in American Ameri-can Fork. He later worked for Consolidated Western Pipe Co. at Geneva. He married and made his home in Salt Lake City and was employed in Murray since then. He was a member of Story Lodge No. 4, F and AM, Masonic Mason-ic Order in Provo; member of the York Rite Bodies in Provo and member of El Kalah Temple Tem-ple in Salt Lake City. Survivors Include his widow, Salt Lake City, his father, Pi. Grove; five brothers, Oliver A., Christopher R., and LeMar, all of Orem; Albert E. and Robert; both of Pleasant Grove; two sisters, Mrs. Arnold (Margaret) (Margar-et) Matthews and Mrs. Frank (Lucille) Davis, both of Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Berg Mortuary Drawing Room Chapel in Provo. Interment was in the Provo City Cemetery. Guests Here Recently Guests at the home of Dahlia Walker last week were Mr. and Mrs. John Glenn and children Kathy, Johnna, Jeb and Helen, and Lou Moberley, all from St. Louis, Missouri, and Nancy and Charles Betterton, brother and sister, from Greenville, Miss., and Mrs. Jerry Shaw, from Murray, Utah. They visited with the Walker Walk-er family part of a day, before continuing on their trip. Other guests at the Walker home this past Monday were Mrs. Nora Schrack and her son Wesley of Covina, Calif., Mel-vin Mel-vin Hula and his mother, Stella Hula, of Wichita, Kansas. TWICE AS SAFE ON Lindon Youth Only Slightly Injured in Two Can Crash Willis Kent Larson, 19, of Lindon, Lin-don, escaped with a bruised knee in a two-car smashup at 12:20 last Saturday morning. The accident happened at 2nd North and 8th East, Lindon. Ray II. Oldroyd, 41, Provo, received a fractured left leg, double fractures of right leg, and compound fracture of right thigh. Also severely Injured was Helen Pawloski, 34 of Orem. She received multiple bruises and possible back and neck injuries. in-juries. Investigating officers said that the collision occurred when the Pawlowskl vehcile made a left turn into the path of the car, driven by Mr. Larsen. Mr. Oldroyd was a passenger in the Pawlowskl automobile. Investigating officers were Don Crump of the Pleasant Grove Police Department and officers of the Utah Highway Patrol and Orem Police Department. De-partment. Damage to both automobiles was extensive, officers said. Senior Citizens Asked to Sign Up for New Trip Senior Citizens who are interested in-terested in late summer trips should call Mrs. Lucile Page, 756-2251 in order to register. Two more trips are being considered. A trip to an afternoon after-noon matinee of "Sound of Music" Mu-sic" at the Theatre in the Round and a repeat trip to the LDS Genealogical Vaults. A minimum of 42 is necessary for the vault trip, Mrs. Page said. The price and time of these two trips will be announced later. Last Saturday a group of Pleasant Grove Senior Citizens visited the vaults in the forenoon fore-noon and attended "Guys and Dolls" at the Theatre in the Round during the afternoon. All were enthusiastic about the trip. Mrs. Page also said that Sr. Citizens should call in and express ex-press their interest in a Senior Citizens Center building for PI. Grove. If they are favorable a visitor will call at their homes and present a petition to be signed. Young StyleYnakers Contest last week in Provd. First, second and third prizes priz-es were given in three age groupings: Young Miss, Sub-Deb, Sub-Deb, and Deb. Susan qualified in the Deb group, which consisted con-sisted of young ladies 18 to 18 years of age. Her prize as first place winner was a large black patent-fitted sewing case. The girls outfits were judged on choice of material and pattern, pat-tern, construction and quality throughout. The girls then modeled for the judges and later in the evening ev-ening for relatives and friends. Over 100' girls from Provo and surrounding areas took part in the show. Susan's outfit consisted of a green wool, semi-fitted shift dress with extended shoulders, tabbed front and top stitch detailing. de-tailing. Her ensemble, along with photographs of her wearing it, will be sent to San Francisco, where it will compete with other oth-er outfits in the Far Western Division of the contest. Winners in San Francisco will receive a new Touch and Sew Singer Machine and qualify qual-ify for trips to New York and Paris. News from Pleasant Grove Servicemen Army Pvt. David J. Terry, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lyman F. Terry of Pleasant Grove, was assigned to the 554th Engineer Co. at Fort Lewis, Washington, Aug. 17. David received his basic training at Fort Ord, California Cal-ifornia in May of this year. He is a 1965 graduate of the Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove High School. Kent W. Roundy, son of Mr. and Mrs. John W. Roundy, Rt. 1, Pleasant Grove, was promoted promot-ed to Spec. 4 Aug.--11 while assigned to the 85th Maintenance Mainten-ance Battalion near Hanau, Germany.
