Impressive funeral services for RujmcU Smith, 57, life-long resident resi-dent of Llndon, were hold Tuesday Tues-day at 11 a.m. In the Llndon Ward Chapel. Bishop Kenneth H. GlUman of the Iindon Second Ward presided and gave appro-, priate closing remarks. . Mr. Smith died Saturday, Jan. 26 at his home following long illness. He had been a fruit farmer farm-er practically all of his life. Speakers who spoke of his kindly kind-ly nature and friendly life In the community were Burdette Price and Mahlon Smith. Prelude and postlude organ music was played by Beulah Clllman. Special musical numbers consisted con-sisted of vocal duets "Sometime We'll Understand" and "Beyond the Sunset" by Patricia Seely and Jeanne Walker. Gene Nelson sang the baritone solo, "Going Home." Family prayer at the mortuary was offered by Arnold Richins, Thomas Cordner offered the opening' op-ening' prayer and Bishop Walker pronounced the benediction. The grave in Pleasant Grove City Cemetery was dedicated by De-Witt De-Witt Smith. Pallbearers were Lrfoyd Swenson, Swen-son, Lee Hooley, Bill Pratt, Bur-dell Bur-dell Bunnell, Eldon Wright, and Merrill Walker. Flowers were arranged ar-ranged by the Llndon Second Ward Relief Society. ' Russell Smith was born Dec. 25, 1905, in Llndon, a son of Melvin Mel-vin and Clara Tomlinson Smith. He married Irene Johnson, Aug. 20, 1930 in Salt Lake City. He was a member of the LDS Church Survivors include his widow; a daughter Mrs. Thomas (Joan) Hamarm, Pleasant Grove; Mrs. Frank (Carol) Monson, Ogden; Arlene Smith, Ogden and Claud-ette, Claud-ette, Lindon; sons, Calvin, Orem; Dennis and Brent, Lindon. There are 11 grandchildren. Three brothers and four sisters also survive; Rudger and Roland, Lindon; DeWitt, Glendale, Wis., Mrs. Vilate Rodeback, Provo; Mrs. Melva Richins, Pleasant Grove; Ms. Rebba Worth en. Las Vegas, Nevada; and Mrs. Verona Hess, California. Utah Funeral Rites Held Wednesday for George A Monson The Manila Ward Chapel was filled to near capacity Wednesday, Wednes-day, Jan- 30 at 1 :00 p.m. Friends relatives and associates assembled assem-bled to pay sincere and final respects re-spects to George Albert Monson. Mr. Monson, 78, died in his car from a heart attack at 8:45 ftjn. lent Sunday. The impressive services were conducted by Bishop Elliot C. Howe. ' Speakers, who paid tribute to the kindly, useful and purposeful purpose-ful life of the deceased were A. P. Warnick and Merrill N. Warnick, Warn-ick, lifelong associates. Musical, numbers consisted of a ladles chorus, "Look Up to Him" by Joan Stubbs, Joan Robinson, Rob-inson, , Nelda Warnick, Blanch Warnick, Maralyne Howe and Mary Jacobs. They were accompanied accom-panied by Kathleen Adams. Tim Ekins sang the vocal solo, "Hold Thou My Hand" accompanied accompan-ied by Gwen Adams. Mrs. Adams Ad-ams also played an organ, solo. . The grave in Pleasant Grove City Cemetery was dedicated by Don Mack Del-ton. Del-ton. Pallbearers were Ross Monson, David Elliott, Dennis Swensert, Grant Atwood, Rodger Whitby, and Willard Monson. Flowers were cared for by the Manila Ward Relief Society. George A. Monson was born In Provo, June 5, 1884 a son of Sven and Hannah Swenson Mon-' Mon-' son. He was a farmer most of his life in the Manila area. A member mem-ber of the LDS church, he was assistant secretary of the Manila Man-ila Ward High Priests Quorum at the time of his death. He married Mary Thomas Dec. 11, 1907 in the Salt Lake Temple. Survivors include his widow, two sons, and two daughters, George Elwood and Robert, both of Pleasant Grove; Mrs. Eldon (Helen) Clark, Lehi; Mrs. Emery Em-ery (Maurine) Andreds, Alpine; thirteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Other survivors are three brothers and two sisters, Swen Monson and Hannah Monson, Salt Lake City; Mrs. John (Mamie). Whitby, Alpine; Joe Monson, California Cal-ifornia and Ivan B Monson, of Pleasant Grove.- Funeral Rites Held Saturday for Mary Ellen Deitlaf Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Ellen (Nellie) HenriodV Deilaf were held Saturday at 2:00 pjn. in the Olpine-Sundberg Mortuary here in Pleasant Grove, under the direction of William W. White of the Fifth Ward bishopric. Mrs. Deitlaf, 74, died at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, "Jan. 2Z at her home of a heart ailment. Speakers, who paid tribute to the long, useful life of the deceased, de-ceased, were Thomas Loveland and Elbert M. Williams. A life sketch and remarks were given by Mrs. Thelma Adamson. Mr. White spoke closing words of solace and comfort Musical selections were rendered ren-dered by the Ratcliff Sisters, ac- . iompanied by Judy Moser. The Sixth Ward Ladies Chorus sang "Beyond the Sunset," with Judy Brown as accompanist. Vivian Bezzant offered the opening op-ening prayer, Roland Anderson pronounced the benediction, and the grave in the Pleasant 'Grove City Cemetery was dedicated by J. C. Hilton. Pallbearers were members of the family and the Fifth Ward Relief Society oared for the flowers and served the luncheon. Mrs. Deitlaf was born June 14, 1888 in Pleasant Valley, Juab County, a daughter of William and Emma Conder Henriod. She married William Roundy in 1906 He died later and she married Andrew Deitlaf, Aug. 28, 1921 in Tooele. Immediate survivors are her husband, Pleasant Grove; a daughter, Gladys Roundy Ratcliff, Grantsville; a son, Howard Deitlaf, Deit-laf, Pleasant Grove; seven grandchildren, grand-children, and eight great-grandchildren. IToung Brldc-to-Bc Honored at Personal Shower Mrs. Linda Gillman and Mrs. LeAnne West were hostesses at a personal shower given In honor of bride-elect Pat Swenson on last Friday evening. The shower was held at the Willis Larsen home In Lindon and the party was planned around a Valentine theme. Decorations were in shades of red and white. Appropriate games were played and game prizes went to Mary Swenson and Nina Hunter. Refreshments were served by the hostesses. - Miss Swenson received many lovely ' and useful gifts. -Thoee present were Nancy Haag, De-anna De-anna Beverldge, JoAnn - Boyer, Beverly Price, Linda Sweat, Jan-Ice Jan-Ice Peacock, Peggy Mercer, Linda Lin-da Beck, Sandra Lunceford, Jane Keetch and Alene Nelson.
