The summons came last Sunday morning, at his home in Au-nabella, Au-nabella, Sevier Co. after an illness of three weeks. The deceased was a Springville pioneer and a resident of the village for the first thirty year, partaking in all the pioneer work, and was very active in the early Indian Ind-ian hostilities, acting as scout, express ex-press rider and other arduous and perilous labors. He was one of the young men of the village, in '50-51 and in the -spring of the latter year, he married Emma Johnson in the "Old Fort." He enlisted and served In the Mexican-war and after his dis - charge rejoined his parent -in Iowa, coming with I hem to Utah in 1850. W. N. Spafford was an active useful man. lie built the-nrst timber bridge across Hobble Creek, assisted in bringing bring-ing in the Belated handcart companies and was a scout in the "Echo War." About 1873 he moved to Aunabella, where the later years have been spent in farming.
