The news came out in Salt Lake yesterday tbat passenger train No 4 on the Rio Grande Western bad collided col-lided with a fruit train at Tucker Sunday night, ten minute before midnight. Four engine were disabled disabl-ed and Engineer Snider was slightly hurt, but the passengers suffered no injuries, General Superintendent Welby was on the tain, his car being attached to the rear end. An extra fruit train running ahead of passenger No. 4, which leaves Salt Lake eastbound at 8:20 p. in., found the yard blocked at Tucker. The train stopped, and before a flagman could be sent back No. 4 came up at full speed, two big helper engines helping help-ing the regular locomaiives pull the ten coaches. Helper engine 14S was iittached to the rear end of the freight train, and into this th j passenger train dashed. Engines 148 and 127 which were attached at-tached to the passenger train in front, were wrecked, Engines No, 38 aud 34 were badly damaged. All the men on the engines jumped except Engineer Snider. He wis brought to Salt Luke on General Superintendent Su-perintendent Welb 's private car He was cut over his left eye, but not seri ously hurt. Prom Enquirer. Captain Edward Brown, a veteran of the Civil War, died at noon yesterday, at the home of Mrs Frank West, his daughter. The funeral will be held from the home this afternoon under the auspices of the G. A. R , and the interment will be in the Provo cemetery. Captain Brown was born in Cambridgeshire, Eng., Jan. 7, 1835. He served in the Civil war as captain of Company I, I3th Illinois Infantry. He leaves four grown children. At a meeting of the School Board last night $i,500 was appropriated to pay the first series of School bonds, which matured. The securities are held by Rollins & Sons of Boston.
