An Epileptic Fit Causes Death of John Conover. ,The culmination of a frightful accident, which happened here in October 1885, occurred last Sundar morning, Aug. 4. It will be remembered remem-bered that several years, ago John uonover, son of John and Emma Conover, was thrown from a horse. which fall resulted in a concussion of the brain. Ever since, the young man has been subject to epileptic fits." Last Sunday morning the young man Kinaiea a flre and left the house to get a bucket of coal. As he stayed an unusually long time his sister Emma stepped' to the door to see what was detaining him. She found mm lying race downward a short distance from the house. The father was at once called and rushing out ne louna life extinct. Kind friends at once appeared on the scene but all men eiums to revive nim were useless. In the fall the young man's jaw had been broken in two places which probably caused bis death. The mother was not at home at the time, she having started for ScoBeld wun ner son, that morning. A tele gram was immediately sent which leached them at Clear Creek. They at once w.ould their faces homeward, reachiug this city at about' three o'clock Monday morning. The funeral was held Tuesday. AN EXPIRING ROMANCE Later Developments in Spanish w Fork's Sensational Love Affair. In last week's issue of the Xephi Record Ihcre appeared an account of some more of the troubles of Mr. and Mrs. Carroll, whose woes as B. C. Carroll and Miss Annie Gardner were the source of great public amusement last winter: "B. C. Carroll, the Spanish Fork book agent, who it will be remembered remem-bered by our readers had such a hard time last spring to win Miss Annie Gardner, a popular young lady of that town for his wife, has continued, it seems, to live up to his romantic reputation until last Wednesday night, when, apparently his rowautic charm took a sudden leave and his bark steered directly for the rugged shoals of tragedy. "It seems that Mr. and Mrs. Car roll came to Nephi sometime last week and Mrs. Carroll remained here the guest of her old friend, Mrs. F. M. Brown, while the husband was to transact business in Sanpete county for a week or ten days. Carroll, whose disposition toward his wife since their marriage would seem to Indicate a very broad streak that savors of insane Jealousy, returned lo the Brown residence late Wednesday evening in a condition bordering on sobriety and asked for his wife. Mr. Brown told him that he was In no condition to see his wife and that he should go to the hotel for the night and come in the morning when sober. "Words passed between the two men, and Brown claims Carroll drew a knife and threatened to kill him He also claims that when the man's wife appeared on the scene he begged her to get into the buggy and go with him to Fountain Green, which, out of fear, she refused to do. He then made serious threats and Mr. Brown sent for Acting Marshal Stalmachcr who arrested the man and took him to the old county jail where he was securely locktd in the up stairs de partment. When the prisoner struck a match and sized up his living apartments he at once concluded that he didn't care to spend the night there-and since interview log t ho place we don't blame b;m. "Atatiout 10 o'clock Acting Marshal Mar-shal Sulmacher and II. D. Golds-brough Golds-brough left here in pursuit of their .escaped prisoner." The officers secured their man, and Carroi's night In and out of jail cost him 120. Kills the (irasshoppers.
