But instead of applying sanitary or common-sense methods to the necessarily numerous personal contacts with the circulating medium, the majority of people show less discretion in its use than in any other habit of life. Business men unconsciously un-consciously dampen their fingers iu their mouths when running through a package of bills, passengers in the slreet cars hold nickels in their lips, and shoppers neglect cuts or abrasions abra-sions on the fingers which touch quantities quanti-ties of change. Yet all of these foolish oversight may prove a seriotis as the careless handling of a firearm. In both citses the excuse, is the same: "Didn't know it was loaded." Kecent experiments experi-ments prove that practically all of the older coins and bills in circulation are thorouglnly tainted with diseases of more or less malignant types. Molds and fungi of numerous varieties; oocei, whicli included all of the more deadly blood-poisoning germs, and bacilli of several possibly dangerous kinds were all found in a few samples, while the chance of detecting the organisms of the greater numlie.r of the contagious diseases was prevented by the conditions condi-tions of the experiment. More complete com-plete and extended tests would doubtless doubt-less have shown, even more startling results, re-sults, while the possibility of finding germs of an epidemic nature, even in th- present state of the city's health, was admitted bythe bacteriologists conducting con-ducting the investigation. This contaminated condition of the. money in circulation may well be considered con-sidered one of the most serious menaces men-aces to the public health. Yet a few simple and common sense precautions will remove the greater part of the danger. Cleaai the unsearred hands, or gloves worn, while shopping, a reasonable degree of eare in holding money, and above all an avoidance of putting coins, bills, or fingers in the. mouth or on the lips w hile engaged in commercial pursuits, are easy ways to procure safety. With these simple methods of obtaining security ready at hand the present widespread violations if sanitation must result either from foui:d Sgnortiiice or from an chn''1 Discovery of tbe lleuinlnn of the Great Kgpypttan MasiclHn of tbe Time of Kaiueua II. The mummy of the last had been discovered, but it was thought that of Hamus was missing. Mr. Groff has identified one of the mummies as that of the prince and magician Hamus and verified the writing on the shroud as "Ra-IIa-mus." "After having opened the case in which the mummy is kept," he saj-s, "and carefully removing the outer cloth covering there appeared written on the shroud, just over the breast of the mummy: 'His majesty commanded command-ed in the seventh year, third month of the season of planting, sixth day, to be put in order the mummy of Prince Hamus.' This note proves that the object ob-ject of my research was correct; that the name is noi llaharnus, as heretofore hereto-fore supposed, but Hamus, that of the great magician with whom I had already al-ready identified my inummy." There still lacks the mummy of Princess Prin-cess Pent Anta. Pharnoh's daughter, the foster-mother of Moses. Certain indications on her sarcophagus might lead one to suppose that the mummy has been destroyed, but it is probably in some tomb in the valley near Thebes, hidden with other princesses and queens.
