Paysorj citizens are very much alarmed over the :uurge of sujallpox, which has lately made its appearance in the city in t wo families. , John Powell's family has had the first death from the plague in the youngest child, a little more than a year old. The other stricken members of this family are being cared for by good hands. The Republicans of Springville held their primary at the City hall, Saturday evening, at 8 p. m., for the purpose of selecting 39 delegates to attend the Republican County convention con-vention to be held at American Fork the 15th Inst. D. C. Johnson was elected chairman and Heber L. Cunnuings" recorded the business of the meeting. The following delegates dele-gates were chosen: Mont Johnson, Geo. B. Matson, G. II. Wanless, Wm. On motion a committee of ten, five gentlemen and live ladies, two from each polling district, was chosen as a local conipaign committee. The following gentlemen were chosen: Geo. I. Hyde for the First district, D A. Crandall for the Second, Aner Humphrey for the Third, II. M. Dougall for the Fourth and Jas. Packard for the Fifth. The ladies of the Republican club were requested request-ed to select the lady members of the committee and report names. H. M. Doutall moved that the delegates to the County convention use all reasonable endeavors to secure the nomination of a representative to the legislature and also a selectman from Springville, which motion prevailed. pre-vailed. In as much as Tuesday, the 18th day of September, 1900, is the fiftieth amiversary. of the settlement of Springville, it is earnestly desired that all business houses be closed and that all citizens refrain from their usual labors, and that the schools be closed, in order that all may join in the eelebration of the day.
