By Wednesday, Nov. 11, the boys should knew who was great enoueh to make the cut. They've been training and drilling to sharpen their skills on the court. But the challenge is not only physi- cal, but also mentally de- manding. The soon-to-be- players are focusing to get in the right mindset. The mindset it takes to become a champion. As the boys are prepar ing, Coach Blakey is ready- ing himself tor the decisions deci-sions he'll have to make and keeping an eye out for the boys who believe in themselves. "No matter your talent, you'll be able to accomplish what you wanna do," Coach Blakey said. We've all heard the stories sto-ries of the great Shaquille O'Neal and how basketball influenced and shaped his character. "Once I focused on the being the best that I could be at basketball and became a leader in the game; I took my responsibility responsi-bility to set a good example exam-ple more seriously." Shaq learned of the impact im-pact that basketball can have on the life of a boy, and Coach Blakey agrees to the fullest. He feels that being on a team can be a hugely positive thing for a boy, but it all depends on the experience they have. Ultimately it boils down to the coach and the example they set.
