Alyssa Payne SJHS STAFF WRITER At Springville Junior High we have many fun classes to choose to take. The foods class is one of those fun classes. Most of the students who chose to take it said they chose it because be-cause they wanted to cook and eat food. Some also chose it because they wanted want-ed to learn something new. Mrs. Crandall described what the class learns like this, "They learn nutrition, healthy lifestyles, and the class's favorite is preparing food in kitchen labs: breads, main dishes, drinks, and desserts. Most of the students liked the same favorite things about the class: eating and cooking. Mrs. Crandall's favorite" part about the class is watching everyone learn to cook. She commented, com-mented, "Some walk. into class already knowing how to cook and some students have never boiled water." I asked the class what their favorite thing to cook was. According to my results, re-sults, the students like cooking cook-ing scones best by a long shot. Some other favorites were Muddie Buddies, muffins muf-fins and cookies. How does Mrs. Crandall keep order with the whole class up and about? "Most of the kids want to cook and stay on task and are great," she says. "We have jobs for each person to complete before class time is over." When asked about what they would like to change the class almost all said they would add more cooking. cook-ing. One student said, "We should have a healthy snack in here every day, we could call it, 'Snack of the day'." It's Not About the House.,. A I It's about the family that lives in the house.
