Special Ed extravaganza!!! Amanda Groneman SJHS STAFF WRITER Special Games were held on Monday, Oct. 8. It was a very fun, but long day, filled with many activities. When the students arrived at Mapleton Jr. High, each of the Special Education students were partnered up with a peer tutor. After all of the schools arrived and all of the participants par-ticipants were partnered up, everyone went outside and the games started. There were so many activities activ-ities to choose from and it was organized so well. It was especially fun to watch the kids do the high jump, archery, and Frisbee golf. The kids had so much fun and it was so great to see the kids succeed. ; We were so proud of all of our students that went from SJHS. We are especially es-pecially proud of Casey Allred for taking 1st place in Frisbee -Golf, and Rick Brady for taking 2nd in the Standing Long Jump.' A big thanks needs to go to Mrs. Lewis, Pam Nor- Students enjoy BMX Show at SJHS . Alyssa Payne and Delon Lier SJHS STAFF WRITERS . ' Kids who had five sales of either cookie dough or magazines for our school fund-raiser were able to attend at-tend the BMX Show that took place September 27th. Students sold cookie dough from August 31 to September Septem-ber 6. The performers were John Bethers, Dan Sieg, and Jesse Johnson. John Bethers was the host. He has been doing BMX for ten years. Before the show he explained that the stunts were dangerous and that kids shouldn't try them at home. . It started out with some basic stunts such as super-mans, super-mans, 360's, and switching ramps in midair. After a while they decided to go out of the ordinary. They asked our principal, princi-pal, Mr. Rolf e, to sit on a chair at the top of a ramp so they could jump their bike over his head. During their practice run, the chair was knocked over. Luckily, when the jump was taken, it was successful Halfway through the show, John Bethers gave a speech on natural energy. He explained how there are better ways to use your natural energy than doing drugs. He said he built the ramps they were using for the show to get rid of some natural energy. We should all use our natural energy in positive ways. For the grand finally they did several back flips, handed out posters, and signed autographs. We, as a school loved having BMX here. We hope they will return re-turn next year to perf orfn again. TIE PUBLIC? OCTOBER 24 - NOVEMBER 7 Tile starting at 500 per sq. ft.
