The defense was like a stone wall, with Dustin Jenkins (66) at defensive end, Marcus Case (34) at free safety, and Jake Bills (44) at strong safety. These Mapleton players, along with the rest of the defense, gave up only 126 yards, while Shawn Bulow (7), also a Mapleton student, stu-dent, threw an amazing game as quarterback. With the shutout against the Lions, the final score was 13 - 0, a win for the mighty Red Devils. . Kaylie Smith MJHS STAFF WRITER On September 11th, the Mapleton Junior High Service Ser-vice Learning Class encouraged encour-aged Mustangs around the school to do a good deed. They could perform good deeds for teachers or other students around the school Brooklyn Madsen, a Mapleton junior student, helped a fellow student with a report. Brooklyn, along with other Mapleton students, did good deeds out of the kindness of their hearts, but also to remember remem-ber the fallen heroes of September Sep-tember 11, 2001. On the September 11, National Na-tional Good Deed Day, Mapleton Ma-pleton students lived by the creed, "Always treat others the way you would want to be treated." Maddie Asay and Calley Banknead MJHS STAFF WRITERS The Mapleton Junior High Girl's Tennis Team has 38 members, 15 of whom are returning to the team from last year. Ma-pleton's Ma-pleton's first match was on Tuesday, Sept. 11, at Pay-son Pay-son High School. The girl' varsity team dominated five to zero, and the junior varsity team had impressive scores as well. The gold team has 11 double dou-ble teams, and the number four gold team defeated Payson's second seat varsity var-sity doubles team. Coach' Jex said, "I am very excited about this year. We are extremely deep as a team. I am very proud of not only our wins but also the way we conduct con-duct ourselves as a team. I want our team to be the example for the district." This year's varsity singles sin-gles team includes Calley Banknead and Hailey Harlan. Har-lan. The doubles teams include in-clude Kelsey Lewis, Anna Cronquist, Spencer Rose, Jamie Lundberg, Alyssa Whiting, and Heather Box. Mapleton would also like to welcome Coach Rose and Coach Harlan. In the near future, you will also be able to sign up for recreation programs online. For those who want to continue to use the drop box, the old Mapleton City utility payment drop box located at 35 E. Maple Street will be removed on October 1, 2007.
