Show 10 SPRINGVILLE HERALD Thursday, March 15, 2007 Diary of Anne Frank performed last week . The SHS play, "The Diary Di-ary of Anne Frank," was extremely successful, and many students and families fami-lies came to see this carefully care-fully rehearsed, beautiful production. More than 30 students and teachers participated par-ticipated in the making of Anne Frank. The play ran from March 8th to March 10th in the SHS auditorium. auditori-um. Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett used Anne Frank's journal to write the play; The Diary of Anne Frank was published in 1955. The play starts on Anne's thirteenth birthday, nearly three weeks before she and her family went underground. With the assistance as-sistance of Otto Frank's trusted friends, Anne was hidden for almost two and a half years. SHS student Jessie Como-letti Como-letti was cast in the difficult role of Anne Frank. Jessica is "a senior, and has been surrounded by acting and performing." Her performance perfor-mance as Anne Frank was spectacular. "Amazing and .inspiring, you could tell that she fit the part," said Emily Luther, "and you could see Anne Frank in her. She portrayed her wonderfully." Under the direction of Mrs. Sellers, the SHS theater the-ater teacher, the play was a huge success. "Mrs. Sellers Sell-ers is really cool, and the way she teaches is very dramatic," said a student. Sarah Clark pitched a solid game (a shutout mind you) and put to rest the revenge of last year's shocking loss to Murray Mur-ray in the state playoffs. The game was a clinic for pitching performance and the Red Devils came out on top 1-0. The only run of the game was a RBI double to right center by Keeli Chalk scoring Holli Averett to put the only run on the board for the Red Devils. Murray had no answer to the pitching of junior Sarah Clark, who posted double-digit double-digit strikeouts and left the Spartans not much opportunity opportu-nity to do anything. T-Wolves whip the Devils In Orem Friday afternoon, after-noon, defense was not much of a factor for Timpa-nogas Timpa-nogas as they posted runs in every inning except for one en route to a 12-4 loss for the Red Devil Baseball Team. Mike Newbury started pitching for Springville and found an array of hits all over the field. The T-wolves found their groove early and started off with a two-run two-run lead in the first inning. The game fell apart in the next two innings as the T-wolves took a big lead and put the game away for good, going up 11-3. Scott Kappas had a great performance coming in late to pitch a solid game; he only gave up one run. Now that the first game jitters are gone, Sunshine promises prom-ises great things as our Red Devils will make a solid run at the tournament.
