Show 7 Thursday, December 28, 2006 SPRINGVILLE HERALD 13 sr m Lynn Ray Hafen Lynn Ray Hafen passed away peacefully in Layton, Utah. He was born in 1964 to Dean and Barbara Hafen. He graduated from Spring-ville Spring-ville High. He fulfilled a two-year LDS mission in England. He enjoyed working with computers, comput-ers, hunting and the outdoors. out-doors. He is survived by his parents, and his three sisters: Jill (Russ) Baxter of West Jordan, Nancy (Reed) Burr of Stans-bury, Stans-bury, and Joy Erickson of Mapleton; many loving LaRae Thorpe Stewart LaRae Thorpe Stewart, age 81 of Springville, Utah, passed away Friday, Dec. 22, 2006. She was born March 22, 1925 in Springville, Spring-ville, to Ronald E. and Lillian Lil-lian Thorpe. She attended Springville schools, graduating grad-uating from Springville High School. Following graduation, she attended Brigham Young University and worked for Adult Probation Pro-bation and Parole. LaRae married Floyd W. Stewart March 28, 1944 in the Salt Lake LDS Tem-ple.They Tem-ple.They lived in California Califor-nia at Camp Cook where she worked on the Army base. She also worked side by side with Brig, owning and running the Springville Floral for 22 years. When she was 23, her mother-in-law passed away and she and her husband took in his four younger siblings (Jay, Jean, Ruth and Howard) and raised them. She loved them dearly. LaRae was always very family-oriented. She had family reunions, Easter Eas-ter egg hunts, Christmas parties and she never forgot for-got a birthday. LaRae has had the same friends that she had in elementary el-ementary school. They have gone to lunch for each person's birthday and once a month besides. She was a member of the Federated Fed-erated Women's Club and was involved in the Fire-' Fire-' man's Auxiliary. Active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in the Primary, Young Women, Relief Society So-ciety and was a faithful Visiting Teacher until a month ago. She and Brig played cards every Saturday Satur-day night for 56 years with the same group. She loves them and would not miss Saturday night for anything. any-thing. Together, she and Brig have traveled to Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Hawaii, Panama Canal, England and many trips to Ohio. They also traveled all 50 states with her keeping keep-ing a record of their travels. trav-els. She is survived by her husband, Floyd; children: Patricia (Douglas) Miller, Mapleton; David F. (Julie) Stewart, Mapleton; Ronald Ron-ald Craig (JoAnn) Stewart, Springville; and Carolyn (Philip) Dixon, New Philadelphia, Phila-delphia, Ohio. She is also survived by her in-laws: Alan and Dorothy Stewart, Springville; Jay and Betty " Stewart, Springville; Jean and Kay Bills, Mapleton; Ruth and Lee Beckstead, , ltHHm& & I ; -V. Lynn Ray Hafen nieces and nephews. Special Spe-cial thanks to Brian and Katty for their care and concern in recent years. Funeral services were held December 27, 2006 at Wheeler Mortuary in Springville. Interment was in the Evergreen Cemetery, Springville. Watch your character, it becomes your destiny. - Frank Outlaw ill ii(mJI Mary Lucy Searle Schriever Together Forever ' Mary Lucy Searle Schriever, age 91, a long time resident of Springville, Spring-ville, Utah, passed away quietly December 20, 2006. She was born September Septem-ber 2, 1915 in Salt Lake City. She was the first of six children born to Ke-ros Ke-ros Harry (Ross) and Lily Watkins Searle. 1 Her childhood was spent in Salt Lake City. She graduated from East High School in 1931. She received a B.A. degree from the University of Utah in 1935 where she was a member of Theta Alpha Phi. Mary married her eternal eter-nal companion, William Clarence Schriever, August Au-gust 9, 1938 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They spent their first years in Salt Lake City. They moved to Carbon County during World War II for a few years before returning return-ing to Salt Lake City. The family moved to Springville, Spring-ville, Utah in 1947. Before she was married, she taught school in Salt Lake and Tremonton. After Af-ter moving to Springville, she returned to teaching kindergarten in the Nebo School District. She was a beloved teacher. She helped many young students stu-dents on their way to learning. Many of her former for-mer students sought her out expressing how she was their favorite teacher. She served in numerous nu-merous callings. She lost her beloved husband, Clary, on December Decem-ber 11, 1995 and has been anxious to once again be with him. She is survived by a daughter Mary Ann (Ben) Fietkau, and three sons Ross William (Sue) Schriever, Schrie-ver, John Clarence (Janet) (Ja-net) Schriever and Glen Searle (Nancy) Schriever; Schrie-ver; 24 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. grand-child. Florence was born February Febru-ary 19, 1921 in Price, Carbon Car-bon County, Utah. She was the third of four children born to Walter Edward and Belle B. Meeks Knox. She married LuDean Litster Lit-ster April 17, 1940 in Huntington, Hun-tington, Utah, and their marriage was solemnized September 11, 1940 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Florence is survived by four of her six children: Nedra (Al) Warner of St. George, Larry (Faye) Litster Lit-ster of Hawaii, Susan Litster Lit-ster of Eagle Mountain, and Brent (Nanette) Litster of Sandy; 24 grandchildren, grandchil-dren, 47 great-grandchildren and one great-greatgrandchild. Florence is also survived by four sisters-in-law: Viola Hardy, Ar-nell Ar-nell (Harold) Clark, Geral-dine Geral-dine (Ralph) Walters, and Yvonne (Lloyd) Jones. Florence was preceded in death by two children: Kent Litster (a twin) and Evelyn Litster Jackson; two grandchildren, Karen Peterson and Paul Litster, as well as two great-granddaughters: Alisha Mei Litster Lit-ster and Alexandra Stilsoa She was also preceded in death by her husband, parents, par-ents, two sisters and one brother: Glenda Knox, Gol-da Gol-da (Carl) Christensen, and E-COIMIE 0 id 610 H. She and her husband, LuDean, served a 12-month mission together in Raleigh, Ra-leigh, North Carolina. Florence shared her beautiful singing voice in many groups through the years, and was a member mem-ber of Musettes Chorus in Springville, Utah, for 24 years. Her family was the most important thing in her life, and she was always a gracious hostess. Funeral services will be held Friday, Dec. 29, at 11 a.m. in the Center Street LDS Chapel at 355 E. Center Cen-ter in Springville. A viewing view-ing will be held Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 E. 200 South, Springville, or friends may. call from 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday prior to funeral services.
