SHS sweetheart assembly Nicole Pigott SHS STAFF WRITER SHS Sweetheart Royalty was crowned on Friday, Feb. 10, but not before the contestants contes-tants endured numerous competitions. First there were the pre-assembly preliminaries pre-liminaries which included a cake and poster contest and an interview. The contestants that made it through the preliminaries pre-liminaries then went on to participate in the famous SHS Sweetheart Assembly. At the assembly, hosted by the FFA, the girls raced to see who could go through a very special obstacle course the fastest. The contestants dressed up like cowgirls, roped a steer (a plastic steer head on a bale of hay), ate a few disgusting dog biscuits and swigged down some V-8, and then rode a tricycle through a maze while they were dizzy. The contestants then let the school bid on the lunches they had prepared (the proceeds pro-ceeds from the sale of these lunch baskets went towards the FFA's Sub-for-Santa fund). Each girl made up a poem to go along with her lunch basket and read her poetic creation aloud during the assembly. A real-life auctioneer then started the bidding and the See Sweetheart page 10 Jordan Allen SHS STAFF WRITER The Red Devils headed into Bulldog country Friday night to play the number one team in the state Proivo had won 16 in a row and are undefeated undefeat-ed in the tough Region 7. For the Devils, Preston Eaton had a game-high 27 points, and for Provo, Collinsworth and Gregory had 19 and 16, respectively.
