Red Devil bnseball facility gets new look The Springville High School Baseball Program is seeking donations to help complete the improvements being made to the baseball field and surroundings. The improvements include a new sprinkling system, new press box, concession stand, and storage area as well as a new scoreboard. Springville gets knocked out of quarterfinals Caitlin Duncan SHS STAFF WRITER The Springville Girl's Soccer Soc-cer Team was defeated by the East Leopards in the quarterfinal game, 1-0. The first half was full of intensity in-tensity in the middle third of the field. Both teams were struggling to get the ball to the other team's end line. Springville allowed the lone goal towards the end of the first half when the Leopards took a corner kick, and an East forward rose above the defense, and headed the ball in. After the goal, the Springville defense did a good job keeping the ball out for the rest of the half. Springville brought a lot of intensity out in the second half. The scoreboard is sized at 13 feet tall and 18 feet wide. It is proposed to hang over the top of the left field wall of the outfield. The display is completely digital and capable capa-ble of providing player information infor-mation in between the two sponsorship blocks. The sponsorship blocks are 5 feet tall and 5 feet wide. Several donations have already been made and more are needed to complete the other improvements. Other than the new sprinkling sprin-kling system for the outfield grass, there will be a new two-story building behind the home plate fence. The team was able to finish. A penalty was awarded to the Devils just outside the Leopard's penalty box. Junior Ju-nior Karissa Henage, whose specialty is free kicks, stepped up to the ball. The kick was beautiful, but it hit the crossbar. Springville had a few more chances in the second half, but never scored. Sophomore forward Rachel Fischer had several nice runs down the left wing. Two days previously, Springville beat Cottonwood 2-0, allowing them to go on to the quarterfinals. Both goals were scored by junior forward Crosby Joyner.
