Announcement is made by Cary and Paula Hylton of the engagement of their daughter, Rebekah, to Ryan Curtis Bartholomew, son of Ray and Ann Bartholomew, all of Springville, Utah. The couple plans to be married on Friday, January 21, 2005 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Family and friends are invited to a reception recep-tion held in their honor that evening at the Springville Museum of Art from 6 to 8 p.m. Rebekah is a graduate of Springville High School and LDS Seminary. She attended Snow College and Utah Valley State College. Ryan is also a graduate of SHS and LDS Seminary. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Copenhagen, Denmark. He is currently enrolled at Brigham Young University. Alesha Revoir, Stephen Russo wedding told Randy and Terese Revoir of Nephi, Utah are pleased to announce the marriage of their daughter, Alesha Anne, to Stephen Gennaro Russo, son of Stephen and Cindy Russo of Orem. Utah Valley Symphony to premiere work Nicolas Keele - Amber James Michael Bunds, assistant professor of earth science at Utah Valley State College and Ron Harris, associate professor profes-sor of geology at Brigham Young University will explain the recent Asian tsunami in a public forum tonight, Jan. 20, at 6 pm in UVSC Liberal Arts Building LA101. "Everyone should understand under-stand the tsunami was not a freak occurrence," said Daniel Horns, chair of the UVSC Earth Science Department. " Much of the devastation was largely due to a lack of education educa-tion and preparation." The lecture will cover: geological geo-logical processes that produced pro-duced large earthquakes in Southeast Asia, effects on the Earth during the earthquake, how the earthquake generated generat-ed a tsunami, the effects of the tsunami and possible ways to mitigate future tsunamis. A question and answer session will follow the speakers. Michael Bunds received a PhD. in geology from the University Uni-versity of Utah. Bunds is an expert on earthquake processes. process-es. His research focuses on faulting in the Earth's crust. Harris is an expert on the geology of Indonesia and focuses fo-cuses research on mountain building processes. A cowboy poem set to original music by Provo composer com-poser Marden Pond will have its premiere Jan. 27 and 27 when the Utah Valley Symphony Sym-phony presents "A Celebration Celebra-tion of American Music."
