Show OBITUARIES Ada R. . Ada Mae Rooks Patrick returned to the loving arms of her Savior Sav-ior on January 13, 2003, where her husband, son and numerous relatives greeted her in a joyous reunion. She had peacefully peace-fully completed her earthly journey, steadfast and true in her faith and devotion to the principles of the Gospel. Ada Mae was born March 31, 1914, in Ebro, Washington County, Coun-ty, Florida, the daughter of John Daniel and Lettie Ann Barrow Rooks. Her early life was in the rural south where she attended elementary and secondary country schools. She was active in sports and creative in writing plays and singing on a radio program out of Dothan, Alabama. She was an active member of the LDS Church serving two missions before the age of 23. She organized the first primary in Sink Creek prior to her graduation grad-uation from high school. Lois M. Lois Martin Low-ham, Low-ham, age 83, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Tues-day, January 7, 2003, in St. George, Utah. She was born March 24, 1919, in Hilliard, Wyoming, Wyo-ming, to Joseph Moroni Martin and Sarah Ann Hutchinson. Lois married mar-ried George William Lowham November 11, 1939, in Salt Lake City, Utah. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on August 10, 1956. George passed away August 17, 2002. Lois was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served faithfully faith-fully in all of her callings, call-ings, serving as Branch, Ward and Stake Relief Society President for over twenty years. Her greatest calling in life, however, was tjiat 'of wife, mother, grandmother grand-mother and great-grandmother. She loved her family dearly and was a great cook and home-maker. home-maker. Our dear, sweet Mother Velma Stewart Hutchings, 85, of Springville, Sprin-gville, Utah, passed away peacefully Jan. 1 1 , 2003, surrounded by her family and loved ones. Velma was born January 27, 1917, in Benjamin to Charles W. Jr. and Mary Wood Stewart. She was the sixth child of five girls and two boys and spent her early days on the family farm in Benjamin. She attended school in Benjamin and Spanish Fork. Velma married her eternal sweetheart, Loren Heber Hutchings September Sep-tember 13, 1933, in Provo. Their marriage was sealed in the Manti LDS Temple August 21, 1974. Loren passed away June 28, 1989. Velma was active in the LDS Church having served 21 years in the Primary organization as a teacher, president and stake board member. Sixteen of those years were teaching young boys, preparing them for the Priesthood and in the Scouting program. She was a wonderful teacher and was loved and admired ad-mired by all those she taught. She was a Visiting Visit-ing Teacher Coordinator as well as a Visiting Teacher for many years, loving her service and friendship with the sisters sis-ters in her ward. Patrick She left her southern home to marry John Charles Patrick, October 3, 1935, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. For the next thirty-seven years she made her home in Springville, Utah. Ada Mae held many positions in the Relief Society, stake and ward primary organization and scouting programs. She was an avid reader and gifted teacher and speaker. speak-er. Her many talents included quilting, cooking, cook-ing, serving the sick and needy, researching ancestral an-cestral roots, writing family histories, compiling compil-ing genealogies and performing temple work. She was the mother of six children, twenty-nine twenty-nine grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. Her children are Kathleen Hammond, Springville; Carolyn (Vance) Keetch, Lindon; Jean (Garth) Morgan, LaVerne, CA; Midge Patrick, Provo; Mary Neff, Spanish Fork; Paul (Shauna) Patrick, Spring- Lowham 1973, George's nephew, Paul Lowham, asked Lois and George to watch over the Sierra Madre Ranch which was south of Saratoga, Wyoming. Wyo-ming. They spent their summers there for the next twelve years. Lois loved to fish and was known for her ability to catch more fish than anyone else. Many wonderful won-derful memories were made as family members visited them at their summer job. Lois and George were dearly loved by everyone who knew them and they will be greatly missed. Lois is survived by her daughters: Kay (Macy) McKelvey of Colorado Springs, CO; Janice (Andrew) Langel of Las Vegas, NV; and Barbara (William) Fraz- ier of Ivins, UT; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sisters: Minnie Frazier of Mapleton, UT; Arvel-la Arvel-la (Gail) Hendrickson of Jerome, ID; Phillis (Carwin) Linford of Hutchings Velma loved the outdoors, and she and Loren spent many hours in the beautiful mountains moun-tains or on a stream. She said her favorite sport was fishing. They loved camping with their children, chil-dren, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, especially the time spent at Henry's Lake. Velma was a member mem-ber of the DUP, Camp Cottonwood, serving as captain several times in the last 25 years. Loren and Velma were blessed with five children: Joyce (Arnold) Wilson, Mapleton; Colleen Col-leen (Jerry-deceased) Beardall; Bernell (Linda) Hutchings, Springville; Gerald (Neva) Hutchings, Hutch-ings, Mapleton; Karen . (Fred) Hurst, Springville, Spring-ville, presently serving a mission in Scarborough, England. Her posterity includes 31 grandchildren, grandchil-dren, 1 1 1 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren with a total posterity of 198. Velma is survived by a brother, Charles Stewart Stew-art of Provo; sister, Vera Baum of California; and a special sister-in-law, Jean Stewart of Med-ford, Med-ford, Oregon; as well as children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and She iis preceded in death bv her husband; parents; brother Jack; sisters: Kate, Mildred and Reva; son-in-law, Jerry "beardall; one grand child, Paul Harm-er; Harm-er; and five great-grandchildren.
