Tesha is the daughter of Steven and Annette Nielsen of Map-leton, Map-leton, Utah, and the late Scott B. Smith. Joel is the son of Don and Kathy Vinson of Springville. A reception will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. the evening of March 2 at the Springville Art Museum. If in our excitement we have forgotten anyone, please know we would love to have you join in our happiness. Tesha is a graduate of Springville High School and LDS Seminary. She was active in sports and now helps coach volleyball and soft-ball soft-ball at SHS. Joel is also a graduate of Springville High and LDS Seminary. He was active in baseball. He served an LDS mission in Brazil. They will make their home in Springville while they continue their education at Utah Valley Val-ley State College. Joel Vinson-Tesha Smith 100 year old! M Library Corner Merle Ross lived for 94 years in the Uintah Basin. She is now residing in Springville, Utah, with her daughter, Merlynn Hoover, and Mrs. Ross is going to celebrate her 100th birthday. Her birthday was on Feb. 20, 2002, and her family is hosting an open house in her honor on Sat., Mar. 2, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Gibby residence, 695 E. 1700 North, Mapleton. Her children are Floyd Ross; San Diego; Delmer Ross, Sandy, Utah; Merlynn Hoover, Springville, Spring-ville, Utah; and Donna Edmiston, Ruston, Louisiana. They request no gifts. All Seniors are invited to take part in the many activities at the center including quilting, cards and pool from 9 a.m. to noon daily; aerobics, Mon., Wed., Fri., 8 a.m.; art class, Mon., 1-4; 1-4; card playing, Tue, and Thur. 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.; ceramics, Wed., 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and Bingo, 12:30 p.m. Horizon Home Health will be at the center on the first Wed., and Kensington Medical on the third Wed. of each month, from 10:30 a.m. to noon to check blood pressure, sugar and oxygen levels. Littlefields gives free hearing tests and checks hearing aids the third Wed., of each month by appointment only, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Call the center, 489-8738 to schedule a time by the Tues. before. Merle Ross The February meeting of the Utah County Birders will be held Wed., Feb. 27, at 7 p.m. at the Bean Museum Auditorium on the BYU campus. The speaker will be Kent Clegg, a noted Sandhill and Whooping Crane migration researcher. In 1997 Kent flew an ultralight ultra-light airplane followed by a flock of Sandhill Cranes and endangered endan-gered Whooping Cranes from his home in Llaho to central New Mexico. This, should be a very interesting meeting. Come and bring a friend. Everyone is welcome wel-come and there is no charge. Kent lives in Grace, Idaho at his ranch and continues biological research projects. We have had Valentines Day, Human Rights Day, Presidents Day and oh yes, a little thing called The Olympics. Olym-pics. Weren't they wonderful? Time flies when you're having fun. I hope you will have a little time now to read a good book or two. We are getting new books on the shelves just about every day, so come in and see what we have for you. Have you ever read a good book and wanted to share it with your friends? So have we. Jerry Spinnelli's book "Star Girl" is an interesting, poignant book that every young person and parent should take the time to read and discuss. This book will be introduced intro-duced to the community by nationally,,, na-tionally,,, known-author, Carol Lyiich Williams , on Mon., Mar. ' 11, at the City Council Room at 7 p.m. There will be discussion groups on the book throughout the year, and every citizen of Springville is encouraged to attend one or more of them. There are lots of books still for sale at the library used book store. In order to cut down our inventory, we are selling the books at $1 a bag. This may be a good chance to find some good reading material for your family, so come in and see what we have. Don't forget our pre-school storytime at the library on Tuesday Tues-day and Wednesday, mornings at 10:30 a.m. It's lots of fun for the little ones and their parents.
