Show OBITUARIES Everet (Skip) Predmore Everet (Skip) Predmore, Pred-more, a 27-year resident of Mapleton, Utah, passed away April 26. 2001. Skip was born May 6, 1920, in Rushsy-Ivania, Rushsy-Ivania, Ohio, He was the son of Charles Leonard Predmore and Blanch Isabel Kempsell. He married Relda Lucille Cable on November Novem-ber 9, 1943. He received his basic education in Ohio, Nevada and the University of California. He served his country in ' the United Slates Navy. Following his honorable discharge he began a career in the civil service, ser-vice, i culminating as safety director for the Marine Corp in Washington, Wash-ington, D.C. After his retirement in 1973, he and Relda settled in Mapleton, where he became active in local politics by serving serv-ing two terms as Mayor of Mapleton and on numerous committees. His post retirement career included many years as a real estate agent working with Provo Real Estate. He was a convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, having been taught by Harman Rector Jr. He loved the church, serving as a teacher, clerk, youth leader, stake missionary, stake executive secretary and as Bishop of the Mapleton Sixth Ward. Skip had a great love for his wire and family. Wheneveryou mentioned his grandchildren or great-grandchildren, he always had a smile and a twinkle in his eye. He loved BYU sports and the Utah Jazz. On a good day he could be found playing golf at Hobble Creek with Cecil Hutchison and other good friends. He is survived by his wife, Relda; daughter, Durinda (Randy) Stewart of Henderson, NV; sons, Darrol of Anaheim, CA; Dan Carly Jr. Dan Carly Jr. passed away April 27, 2001, at his home from lung cancer. Dan was born near midnight on the last day of January 1939, in a fierce blizzard, in a stone cabin on a ranch near the top of the Rocky Mountains, in Mt. Harris, Colorado, to Dan and Josephine Carly. His father had to break a trail, through the snow, to town to get a very reluctant doctor for the delivery. The doctor signed the birth certificate, certifi-cate, "was a live 12:01 a.m., February 1, 19-39," 19-39," so that was his legal birth date. Dan also lived in Midvale, Orem, Provo, American Fork, Spring-ville Spring-ville and California. His favorite area was Mapleton, Maple-ton, when it was small, when a kid could go fishing and hunting right in town and everyone knew everybody else. : Danwasvery well-liked well-liked mroughour his school days. He was elected President of his Junior Class in 1956, the same year he won the Art Essay Contest. The following year, he was elected the Judge of Spring ville High School. During boot camp, he set the firing' range record with a .30 cal. Ml Garand, earning an expert rifleman badge. He was assigned to ' Kaneohe Marine Corps' Air Station, Kaneohe. Hawaii, where he worked at Headquarters , and Service, 1st Battalion, Battal-ion, 4th Marines, Fleet Marine Force, Territory of Hawaii. He was very proud to have been a Marine and to have served his country. He was in Pearl Harbor, on a troop ship waiting to go to Beirut, Lebanon, when it was announced that Hawaii was nominated to be the 50th state. He earned Corporal E-3 rank in less than a year and served on rifle teams while in Hawaii. ..- Dan married Geri Reda in 1963. He worked as a warehouseman warehouse-man for Safeway Stores, in Richmond, California, for seven years. He and Geri and their four children moved back to Utah in 1970. Dan entered the real estate business in 1970, became a broker in 1979 and opened his own company, Carly and Company Real Estate. The last 18 years,- his love was just being a dam good, honest, automobile auto-mobile salesman. His latest employer was Butterfleld Ford in Sandy, Utah. Dan has received many untold blessings and benefits from the Butte rfield family and he and his family would like to thank them publicly. There is no other company compa-ny around with, a bigger heart. Dan is survived by his wife, Geri; three sons and one daughter: Jeffrey (Tammy) Carly, Everet (Skip) Predmore Arden (Janice) of West Valley City; step-daughter, Carol (Alton) Collier of Pasadena, TX; brother. broth-er. Dahl of Findley, OH; 24 grandchildren; and 36 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Art and Alan; his sister, Elizabeth; daughter, Rhadel; and son, Wayne. Skip had a great love for life and fought valiantly val-iantly through many illnesses. He was on the golf course the Friday before his death. He had a deep love for the gospel gos-pel and his family and friends. Funeral services were held April 30. Interment was in the Evergreen Cemetery in Springville. V- : O - I ' V I i Dan Carly Jr. Lindon; Kevin (Tami) Carly, Eagle Mountain; David (Kathie) Carly, Springville; and Gena (Kirk) Bertelsen, Springville; Spring-ville; nineteen beautiful grandchildren; his parents, par-ents, Dan and Josephine Carly Sr. of Mapleton; two brothers. Gene (Bernita) Carly, of Mapleton Map-leton and Roger (Polly) Carly, of Maria, Texas; many loved nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, Larry (Jill) Reda of Spanish Fork; sisters-in-law, Kayleen (Kay) Sheppard of Orem; Chris (Roger) Pyne of Orem; and Cyndee (Mike) Pinner of Orem; and many loving and supportive sup-portive friends. Thanks go to Hospice Hos-pice for their special care. Funeral services were held May 1, in Springville. Interment was at the East Lawn Cemetery in Provo. The Chinese invented the wheelbarrow. The first paper was made from pulped silk waste. The rudder was ' invented in China. Paper and printing were the most important Chinese inventions. Acupuncture has been used for 2000 years. The rocket and gunpowder gun-powder were Chinese inventions. Villa Theatre founder gets national award The American Association of Community Theatres (AACT) a national theater- organization representing some 7000 community commu-nity theatres across the country presented their annual Spotlight Achievement Award to W. Bill Brown .Jr. for his outstanding contribution to community theatre. thea-tre. Brown, managing realtor of Bill Brown Realty and a resident of Springville, has been an active participant in community theatre for several decades. He is founder, found-er, with his novelist wife Marilyn, Mari-lyn, of the VIP ARTS, a, nonprofit non-profit educational foundation which incudes the Villa Playhouse Play-house Theatre, The Little Brown Theatre and the Villa Youtheatre. Directing the 48th VIP production, pro-duction, "The Diary of Anne Frank" currently playing in the Little Brown Theatre, Brown has also starred as Oscar in the recent "Odd Couple," and in such plays as "On Golden Pond," "To Kill a Mockingbird" and others. He has also written and produced several of his own plays,"Rockrollers and Pancakes," and "Riot at Flo's Cafe" and a new one, "Throwing Stones." He has also built most of the sets, furnished space for theatre activity and managed every other detail of the theatre since its inception. Currently enrolled at B.Y.U., Brown is seeking a degree in Theatre Arts. He is also the community theatre representative for the Rocky Mountain Theatre Association. An actor, director, educator, playwright and set builder, one can almost always find Bill Brown not far from the theatre located on Main Street in Springville. "At sixty, I feel like I have just touched the tip of the iceberg. ice-berg. If I live to be ninety I may finish my last performance or direct my final show," Brown said. Shellie Siddo-way, Siddo-way, daughter of Frank and Susan Siddoway , and Kelsey Rabner, daughter of Max and LaNell Rabner will attend the session, a project of practical training in the process of city, county and state government and citizenship, from June 4-9, 2001 at Southern Utah University in Cedar City with the four other girls from Springville. The American Legion Auxilia- ry are in need of more contributions contribu-tions for the tuition costs for these girls. They would greatly appreciate the help and support to further this very worthwhile program for young women.
