The next day, by request, Jonathan Jona-than Ford and family asked to remain at the encampment to rest their cattle and sheep, who were weak and leg weary from lack of sufficient food. Jonathan and his family were able to follow the others, two days afterward, thus missing being with the first company com-pany to arrive in Springville. However, a year later, Jonathan died as did several of his family, and had the dubious honor of being the first person to be buried bur-ied in the then newly acquired City Cemetery. With the Sesquicentennial birthday of Springville fast approaching ap-proaching a number of families have planned to celebrate with a family gathering at the grave site of their Springville Ancestors. They have decided to honor those ancestors from whom they have received a priceless legacy. These families have invited other family members to join in this Memorial Day Family Gathering. It would be the great desire of the Springville Spring-ville Historical Society that a large number of families would join in honoring their ancestors by gathering as a family at the grave sites. Three grave site gatherings of historically prominent people will be held between 11 a.m. and 12 p.m. in the Historic Springville Cemetery. For those wanting to visit more than one grave site, the presentation will be repeated. The Aaron Johnson family will meet at 11 a.m. The Tamma Durfee Miner family at 11:30 a.m. and the Moroni and Nancy Miner family at 12 p.m. The Springville Historical Society feels that cemetery browsing brow-sing is particularly rewarding here in Springville, so come and have an enjoyable Memorial Day. Plan ahead to meet at the ceme tery. Families could have stories told for the children and grandchildren. grand-children. Begin the Sesquicentennial Sesquicenten-nial year by honoring those who came before, to settle Springville.
