After dinner a book review will be given by Mrs. Ruth Sumsion. The book is titled "Mario Thomas and Friends" and is a collection of short stories regarding regar-ding "belonging". Apples, pears, plums, cherries and almonds are all related to the rose. Just in time for Manufacturer's Jewelry Show ONE DAY ONLY FRIDAY-FED. 12 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Robert Graves to marry Canadian girl Announcement is made by Jim and Mama Martin of Red Deer, Alberta, Canada, of the engagment of their daughter, Cindy Marie, to Mr. Robert A. Graves, son of J. Norman and Lois Graves of Springville. The couple plans to be married on Thursday, February 11, 1988 in the Jordan River Temple. A wedding breakfast will be held at the Cougar Den in Provo. A reception will honor the couple that evening from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Hobble Creek Stake Center, 650 East 500 South, Springville. All friends and relatives are invited to attend. They will be further honored at a reception on February 19 in Red Deer, Canada. The bride-to-be graduated from LTC High School and LDS Seminary in Red Deer. She plans to attend Utah Valley Community College. The prospective groom graduated from Springville High School and LDS Seminary. He served an LDS mission in Amsterdam, Netherlands. He attended Brigham Young University where he majored in Business Management. He is currently employed with First Security Bank as an officer. Bridal attendants will be Kathy Neville, Michelle Bakke and Paula Nielson. The bestman will be Bryan Graves and Kevin Martin. Showers have been given by Shellie Graves, LaRayne Graves and Sann Graves. The couple will make their home in Springville. Connie Arbon to marry Daniel Broadbent Connie Jean Arbon, daughter of Robert and Beverly Arbon of Mapleton, will marry Daniel Brigham Broadbent, Broad-bent, son of Kent and Helen Broadbent of Santaquin, on Thursday, February 11, 1988 in the Provo Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A reception recep-tion will honor the couple that evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at the lst-4th Ward in Mapleton. All friends and relatives are invited to attend. Bridal attendants will be Louise Arbon, Diane Arbon, Bonnie Grover, Sherri Pendleton and Julie Watts. Bestmen will be David Broadbent and Scott Snelson. The bride-elect graduated from Springville High School and LDS Seminary. She is attending Utah Valley Community College and will graduate in August with a General Education degree with an emphasis in the humanities. She worked as a nurse's aid at Hale's Rest Home in Spanish Fork and is currently employed at Dr. Arbon's office as a receptionist. Her fiance graduated from Timpview High School and LDS Seminary. He served an LDS mission in Catania, Italy. He is currently attending Brigham - Younmg University and will graduate in August with a BS degree in Physics. He" is employed at Aerotron Computer Distributing. The couple will make their home in Provo. Jillyn Stringham Steven Bird wedding bells Sat. Jillyn Stringham, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Demar Boren of Vernal and the late Kary Duane Stringham, will marry Steven Glen Bird, son of Mr. J. Don Bird of Springville and Mrs. Colleen Thatcher of Mapleton, on Saturday, February 13, 1988. The ceremony will take place in the Springville LDS Second Ward at 1 p.m. A reception will be held in their honor at a later date in Vernal. The couple plans to make their home in Springville. Club hears about new history of Springville to be published soon Rhoda Ford was hostess to the Jeune Mere Club last Wednesday at Barts Catering. There were 12 members and the following guests, Ruth Tanner, Ina Christensen and Louise Robertson in attendance. President Faye Madsen was in charge and welcomed the group. Delia Whitehead was in charge of the program and introduced Marie Whiting, who reviewed the "History of Springville" written and compiled by Mary J. Chase Finley. She read interesting excerpts from the manuscript and showed some of the pages from the printer. She said that she and her husband, Harold, are publishing the book, which should be on sale soon. The next club will be at the home of Marie Whiting. Carol Jean Quigley Kevin Rowley 94 years! Mrs. Josephine G. Kelly will celebrate her 94th birthday on Saturday, February 13, 1988. She was born on that day in Springville to Lottie Alexander and Frank C. Gammell. She had a twin, Mrs. Kate Holley, now deceased. When the twins were born, they weighed only three pounds and at that time there were no incubators and so the tiny babies were wrapped in cotton and put in small boxes on the oven door. Mrs. Kelly worked most of her life cooking for construction crews, working at the Utah State Hospital and as a sales clerk in a women's apparel store for many years. She has always loved clothing and jewelry and felt she wasn't dressed unless she had on her earrings. She also loved to crochet and do ceramics. Mrs. Kelly had four children, Howard Brinton, now deceased; Frank O. Brinton, Redwood City, California; Mrs. Bill (Helen) Stevenson, Payson; and Harriet Miner, Springville. She has 14 grandchildren, 47 greatgrandchildren great-grandchildren and nine great-greatgrandchildren. The family will celebrate her birthday with a dinner at Oak Crest Inn. Carol Jean Quigley Kevin Rowley wedding Friday Announcement is made by Mrs. Leora Quigley of the engagement of her daughter, Carol Jean Quigley of Orem, to Mr. Kevin Flowers Rowley, son of Mr. and Mrs. Winford S. Rowley of Springville. The couple plans to be married on Friday, February 12, 1988 in the Salt Lake Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A reception will be held for friends and relatives that same day in the Springville 10th Ward, 355 East Center. The bride-to-be graduated from Mountain View High School. The prospective groom graduated from Springville Spr-ingville High School and served an LDS mission in Ventura, Ven-tura, California. Greeting them was hostess for the party and club president, Anna Marie Palfreyman. After a delicious dinner, the group was entertained with a special program by Mrs. Denise Palfreyman. Denise accompanied herself on the guitar while she sang love songs.
