It seems to me we just can't afford the luxury of all those trips and expensive uniforms and equipment. There are just too many extras in the schools today. from B.D. in Springville Dear B.D.: In an independent study by the National Federation of High School Associations it was found that percent of the dropouts drop-outs were not enrolled in activities programs, indicatirig tWe "holding power" of the activities in keeping students in school., ' ' The Nebo District last year, out of a total budget of approximately thirty million dollars, spent only a total of $187,384 for all activities. Much of this amount was paid in salary stipends to the directors and coaches. The rest of the programs were financed through gate receipts. The fine activities funded included sports like football,, basketball, volleyball, baseball, wrestling, gymnastics, tennis, golf, cross country, swimming and drill and pep teams; but also band, chorus, orchestra, drama and forensics in our schools. Dear Mr. NEBO: Why can't the principals have their meetings after school hours like teachers do? It seems we can never find the principal prin-cipal at our school when we need to talk to him. He is always at the district office in a meeting. from Mrs. P. in Payson Gfll DQDDlTfgOQo o o A11 investment SPRINGVILLE K0L0B STAKE FIRST WARD Bishop Vee Sanford 489 7866 YW RS, PM.
