A featured part of the conference will be a three hour workshop with ' Elder F. Teela, Springville, has recently received hip Eagle Scout Award. James was also named Boy Scout of the Year for 1985 by Troop 960. James received his Eagle award while in Troop 922. For his Eagle project he planned and supervised laying new sod for Springville City. James' interests in-terests are skiing, fishing, camping, camp-ing, horse shoes and basketball. Weight family reunion told Family members of the George and Lenora Childs Weight organization organiza-tion will meet in a family reunion Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the Beehive Flat in Wanroads Canyon. Saturday morning will be filled with activities for the entire group and conclude following dinner at noon with sports activities. On August 16, two boys from Denmark Den-mark will be arriving in Springville to attend school at Springville High for the 1986-87 school year. One boy is 16 and the ttther 17. One is interested in-terested in music and the other in gynastics. If you feel that you and your family fami-ly could open your heart and home to one of these boys, please call Luauna Snapp at 489-6570. We need to place these boys by this Friday. The boys are exchange students through AYUSA. They have their own spending money and insurance. The Host family will receive $50 per month for food expenses. The biggest fresh water fish ever recorded as having been caught with a rod and reel was a 468-pound sturgeon caught in California in 1983. Every year , foreign visitors spend about $14 billion in the U.S. "Man Is That He Might Have Joy." Among the other workshops to attend at-tend will be "Focus on the Future Making Your Decisions a Reality," "Financial Aerobics," "Career Change" and "Trusting and Risking in Relationships." Coinciding with the Pioneer Day celebration July 24, the conference opens with a potluck dinner and continues con-tinues that evening with a Parade of Stars emceed by Jay Osmond. There will also be dancing as well as a game and activity fair. Friday gets rolling with an early morning hike before the keynote address ad-dress in the Joseph Smith Memorial Building auditorium on the BYU campus. A native of Springville, Mary is in her sixth season as a solo performer. She began practicing the piano at age six and her local teachers included in-cluded Sam Henry, Mary Bird, Thomas Biesinger, and Richard Hatch. As a youth she spent five years studying with J.J. Keeler of BYU, and for the past seven years her teacher has been noted concert artist, Gregory Saint-Thomas. Mary has been invited to perform regularly at the Helicon House of Holladay, Utah, and for various churches and public schools in her area. In both 1984 and 1986 she played at the Crossroads Plaza and the ZCMI mall for "Recitals in the Town," a series organized by Salt Lake businesses and musical federations federa-tions in connection with the International Interna-tional Bachauer Competition. Her recital includes works from Bach, Beethoven, Debussy, Chopin, and Lizst and promises to be a very memorable event. Mary resides in West Valley City with her husband Kirk and their five sons. Valley Center "Time Out for Ginger," a fun play about teens and life in the fifties, will open at the Valley Center Theatre, 780 North 200 East, Lindon, Friday at 8 p.m. It will run Friday, Saturday, Satur-day, and Monday through July 28. They appreciate the people who helped in anyway. The senior trip to Park City will be July 18. Buses will be leaving the center at 4 p.m. Dinner will be at the Homestead and then those participating par-ticipating will go on to Park City for a show that evening. Using both hands If you've ever tried to row a boat with just one oar, you probably encountered a great deal of frustration, with the boat going around in circles and making no forward progress. Life is like that. If you don't get in there and use both hands, you'll find yourself going nowhere except in circles. Enthusiasm and diligence are characteristics that will take us a long way.
