There are lots of books that tell you where von are going wrong. If you haven't looked in the self-help self-help book section recently, you should. There are dozens of books telling how to change your life, influence in-fluence business associates or get jobs by dressing correctly and wearing the right colors. Especially when it comes to color analysis, there is nobody of knowledge to support personal color selections, according to Dr. Vera Keeble, USU Extension clothing and textiles specialist. Color analysis is viewed with skepticism by experienced ex-perienced professionals in academic, fashion and beauty fields. Keeble says color analysis is good for people who feel more secure when someone else tells them what colors they look best in or for people who have little time or interest in making clothing decisions. For some people color analysis simply makes life easier. On the other hand, she says, color analysis is not for people who feel a prescribed way to dress severely hampers their creativity. Whatever your feelings about professional color analysis, you probably can improve your appearance ap-pearance by doing a little color self analysis. Keeble suggests being observant and trusting your instincts. Observe the people around you while you're standing in line at the grocery store. Why is one person attractive in a particular outfit? Why is another outfit so unattractive? Of course, keep your opinions about hideous outfits to yourself. Keeble suggests these other methods of self analyzing your wardrobe: Select a few of your favorite outfit and try them on in front of a full-legth mirror. Pretend the person in the mirror is a stranger and try to analyze your appearance objectively. ob-jectively. Ask yourself if and why the outfit is attractive or unattractive: unat-tractive: Does it fit well? Is it fashionable? Is it a good style for your body type? Is it a reflection of your values? Make mental notes of the compliments you receive. Remember what styles and colors you were wearing at the time. Select a book of color in the art section of the library. Read it and see how it applies to clothing. You can also look through men's and woman's fashion magazines to help you get ideas about which colors and styles are most attractive to you.
