Hansel and Grefel ballet tonight "Hansel and Gretel" will be presented tonight, May 29, at 7:30 p.m. at the Jr. High School. The Springville-Mapleton Academy of Ballet and Dance will debut in this work after its first year in rehearsal. Lynn Judd, who also teaches ballet at B.Y.U., has been the teacher, after a successful career as a dancer. Maria Childs will dance the role of Camp Kolob Camp Kolob meeting was held at Ethel Phillips home with Captain Venetta Kelsey conducting. The roll called by Alta Taylor showed eleven members present. Members of Camp Kolob will be in attendance at the Relic Hall on July 3rd from 1 to 4 p.m. Betty Newman read the history of James Duke who was born December 21, 1829 in New York. He lived with his family in Nauvoo and witnessed some of the trials the saints suffered. He came to Utah in 1850 and settled in Provo in 1851 as a builder. His was a musical family. He was an actor and a drummer in the militia. He died May 20, 1892 in Heber City, Utah. Adele Neilson presented the lesson on the life of Edward Wallace Guymon. He was born in Springville December 15, 1859. He was the sixth child of Noah Thomas Guymon and Margaret Johnson. Edward was baptised April 1, 1869 by his father. After he grew up he became a foreman in canal and railroad construction work. He married Elizabeth Harper January 27, 1883. The young people lived in Huntington and Vernal. He carried the mail from Vernal to Price. The family later moved to a ranch at Otto, Wyoming. Edward came to Utah and worked at the famous Dream Mine where he received mining stock for wages. He died January 8, 1937 at Forest Grove, Oregon. He was buried in Springville January 11, 1937. Refreshments were served by Ethel Phillips, Venetta Kelsey and Ida Fick. Floral gifts were presented as Mothers' Day remembrances. Jacob Frahm, son of David and Wendy Frahm of New Mexico, had his first birthday. His grandparents are Tom and Christa Frahm of Springville and Dean and Afton Christensen of Orem. His greatgrandfather, great-grandfather, Wihelm Jessen also lives in Springville.
