Local artist's work featured in Museum of Church History and Art A large piece of contemporary religious art has been hung in a new "Recent Acquisitions" case at the Museum of Church History and Art, operated by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Museum Director Glen M. Leonard says the oil painting by Springville, Utah, artist Bruce Smith, "I Will Arise and go to My Father." is the first of a continuing series of new museum acquisitions that will be spotlighted in a display area in the museum's main foyer. Smith, who teaches art at Rich Dean new administrator at Mountain View Hospital Rich Dean has been appointed the new administrator at Mountain View Hospital in Payson, announced Phil Jones, Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Mountain View. Mr. Dean has served the past year as assistant administrator to Val H. Christensen who has accepted another position in the HCA Division office in Bountiful. Dean's formal education includes a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.S.N.) and a Masters Degree in Health Administration from B.Y.U. At the El Dorado Hospital and Medical Center in Tucson, Dean served as the assistant administrator ad-ministrator for nearly three years before accepting his appointment at Mountain View Hospital in November, 1983. "Many challenges face the health care industry,". Dean explains. "the health care industry is in the process of dramatic revolution. No longer can a hospital remain a building with walls where most patient needs are met. Hospitals and health care must mold to the rapidly changing demands of our communities, com-munities, providing services thhat are much more cost effective tor patients. Home health care, same-day same-day surgery, outpatient clinics, short stay options and creative insurance in-surance plans are some of the cost Rich Dean Sanchez completes mechanics course Army Pvt. The story unfolds over three continuous panels, which together make up the five-foot-long painting. "We accept new art and artifacts into the collections continually-more continually-more than 700 separate items during the past year," Leonard says. "We will select a few to highlight for public preview and eventually all of saving measures pursued at Mountain View Hospital. "Hospitals in the future will provide services for a more acutely ill patient." Dean says. "Less serious illnesses and surgeries will be provided in same-day surgery units, clinics and by home health care." Reflecting on the rapid progress of MVH since its dedication in August, 1979, Dean comments how much MVH has changed and grown to meet the needs of the area. "Mountain View is truly a community com-munity hospital, adding services and physician specialties to serve local health care needs. Southern Utah County and the counties to the South now have access to technology, and specialists formerly reserved for more metropolitan areas." CT Scan, nuclear medicine, ultrasound, electromyography, electroencephalography, elec-trocardiology, elec-trocardiology, and echocardiology are among the technologies now available. Complementing general and family practice, Mountain View Hospital now has other physician specialties and hospital services including: OB-GYN, pediatrics, ophtalmology, otolaryngology, urology, internal medicine, radiology, pathology, orthopedic surgery, plastic surgery, psychiatry. critical care, rheumatology, gastroenterology, drug and alcohol rehabilitation, and a 24-hour emergency center. Dean is an optimist about Mountain View Hospital and its future in Utah County.
