The new siphon, manufactured by United Pipe Concrete of Pleasant Grove. Utah, at a cost of $46,800. is 42 inches in diameter. It will be placed U'low the riverbed by Western Utility Contractors, Inc. (Westcon) also of Pleasant Grove. The cost for placing the pipe is $91,700. "The pipe was manufactured last year and was scheduled to be installed last winter, win-ter, according to Larson, "but that contract had to be terminated due to w;iter releases from Thistle Dam. This winter, most of the Spanish Fork River water is being diverted into the power canal, bypassing the siphon site." All of the Strawberry Project irrigation water for the Mapleton area is delivered through this siphon, and replacement of the siphon is scheduled for completion by the end of February 1985.
