Show Page Four - The Springville Herald - April 4, 1984 Vida Shepherd celebrates birthday Vida Thomas Shepherd Alan Christopher Alispach will celebrate his first birthday on April 13, 1984. He is the son of Alan and Judy Alispach of Springville. His grandparents are Wayne and Rose Marie Bowen of Springville and Bert and Flora Alispach of Orem. Sharing this special day with him are his sisters Tabatha, Mandie and Autumn, his Uncle Gary and Aunt Melony. Western dance A western dance will be held on Saturday, April 14, 1984 at the Utah Valley Archery Center, 1255 North 1200 West, Orem, from 8 to 12 p.m. There will be a drawing for a quilt and other door prizes. Monday, April 9, 1984 there will be an open house at the family home 2307 South State, Springville, for all friends and relatives. The family request no gifts. Mrs. Shepherd attended school in Tooele County and Eureka, graduating from Tintic High School in 1923. She married Lewis Shepherd March 19, 1926 and has 4 children, Mrs. Ken (Myrle) Thurnau, Orem, Ut., Mrs. Kent (Madge) Lewis, Greenriver, Wyo., Mrs. Mary Carter, Murray, Utah, and Lewis Mark Shepherd serving with the U.S. Army in Germany. She is active in the LDS Church and the Daughter of Utah Pioneers. She was a Relief Society visiting teacher for 54 years. Spring fashion show and luncheon "A PROMISE OF SPRING" is the theme for the Spring fashion show and luncheon to be sponsored by the San Andres Catholic Women's League, Saturday, April 7 from 12:30 - 3:00 p.m. at the Payson City Center, 400 East 100 South. Fashions will be supplied by local merchants and entertainment by BodyWorks of Payson. Tickets are $7.50 per person. Call OVEREATERS Homemakers hear Don Black The Springville Chapter of the Utah Homemakers recently held it's March meeting for members and guests by listening to psychologist and lecturer Don Black. The topic was on family relations with a special focus on parent-teenager interactions. Dr. Black is an adolescent psychologist who has been awarded as the Outstanding Youth Leader of America by the Religious Heritage of America, the Distinguished Service Award for Drug Abuse from the city of Provo, is listed among the Outstanding Young Men of America, and has served as an LDS Bishop. The evening was informative, entertaining and enjoyed by all who attended.
