Their homecoming will be Sunday, Jan. 30, at 10:50 a.m. in the Mapleton Third Ward, 970 N. 400 E. ; V-'pV ' ' 1 ' ' 4 ? Kevin Averett, son of Lorraine Ryan, Claremont, Calif., and the late Dale Averett of Springville, has been called to serve in the Australia Sydney LDS Mission. His farewell will be Sunday, Jan. :i0, at 10:50 a.m. in the Springville 7th Ward. He enters the Missionary Training Center Feb. 10. Christine Schouten, daughter of Ron and Doreene Schouten, has been called to serve in the Guatemala, Guatemala City LDS Mission. Besides proselyting, she will be spending some time in welfare services work. Her farewell will be Sunday, Jan. 30, at I p.m. in the 1 1th Ward, Kolob Stake Center. She enters the Missionary Training Center on Feb. 10. ' Cardio-vascular screening set Provo Seventh-day Adventists will sponsor a cardio-vascular screening called "Heartbeat" February 7-9, in an effort to assist neighbors and friends with potential or existing health conditions. .' Blood drawing will take place between 7 and 9 a.m. those three days, and technicians require a 12-hour 12-hour fast prior to the drawing for all patrons. The clinic will be held at the Fellowship Hall of ; the church, located at 255 South 700 East, Provo and fee for lab costs will be $35. Patrons will be asked to fill out a questionnaire concerning exercise, eating and other health .habits. Height and weight will be measured and then a small sample of blood will be taken for analysis.' Analysis will include tests for cholesterol, triglycerides and other chemicals Following the lab tests, results will be translated into un' derstandable terms in three sessions, February 15, 17, and 22 at 7 p.m., also in the Fellowship Hall. At this time the results will not only be explained, but suggestions will be made in areas of diet, 'exercise programs, stress control and others. ' ' 489-5686 ' Advcntist positions refilled Provo Seventh-day Adventisis serving on the Church Board voted to approve the appointment of one new Deacon, Bill Wrens of Heber; and two new Deaconesses, Dorothy Gaines of Provo and Debbie Harvey of Orem, to replace people who resigned due to moving. The appointments were made effective immediately. Deacons responsibilities include the physical and spiritual maintenance main-tenance of the , local church. They are ordained to carry out duties including the communion service, weekly ushering, building construction con-struction and maintenance of the physical plant, visitation and assistance with families and duties on the platform such as preaching, reading or praying. ' Duties performed by Deaconesses include weekly responsibilities of flowers, greeting, fellowship dinners and child care. They also assist with communion services, visitation, kitchen care, organization of funerals or family care during sickness. Dr. Paul Smith, head Elder, is currently assuming duties as pastor, until Nevada-Utah Conference officials of-ficials appoint a new professional pastor for the Provo Church. Youth irpss3rg set by church There will be a "Youth Borgasmorg" this Saturday, Jan. 29, at the Evangelical Free Church, 280 S. 400 E. in Orem according to Bob Brindle, Youth Pastor of the Nebo Baptist Church in Spanish Fork. A Borgasmorg is a full course dinner ordered from a rather "unorthodox menu." The fun is finding out what you ordered and in what order. The dinner is being hosted jointly by the youth groups of the two churches and will begin at 6 p.m. All youth in grades 7-12 are invited. After the dinner the full-length full-length feature film, "Super Christian," will be shown. The cost for all of this is just $2. Pastor Bob has other youth activities ac-tivities planned in the near future, including an "Arcade Saturday" February 12 where one can play all the games he wants to in two hours time for only . $3. PM ..............9:00 Harvest ; 'Ingathering -1 drive surpasses goal Thanks were expressed for the donations provided by neighbors and friends of the Provo Seventh-day Adventist Church following the annual Harvest Ingathering fund drive,; which ended with the goal surpassed by $800. Coordinator James Rothgeb of Springville thanked local Adventists for their personal support of the program, both through donations and volunteer hours. The original goal was set by the Nevada-Utah Conference of DYU confeb to focus on singles A major conference on the role of unmarried adults in society is scheduled at Brigham Young University Wednesday and Thursday Thur-sday (Feb. 2-3). The conference, with the theme "Single Persons in Families and Society," will feature scholars and experts from throughout the United States, and even from Australia, offering presentations on issues that affect the single person. The conference will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Varsity Theater of the Wilkinson Center.
