Show Page Twelve - The Springville Herald - January 20, 19H3 Grand Beehive exhibit on month-long display The Springville Museum of Art is sponsoring in part a selection of works from the Grand Beehive exhibit. The exhibit will be on display at Rock Canyon Elementary School, 2400 N 650 E, Provo until Feb. 12. For information on scheduling tours call the Curator of Education at the Springville Museum of Art, 489-9434. This display represents a selection from the large exhibit of 70 objects, and of the same title, that has been seen at the Salt Lake Art Center and the Ren wick Gallery of the National Collection of Fine Arts--the Smithsomian Institution. The beehive is, among other things, the symbol of the state of Utah. It is perhaps the most widely used of all state symbols; in Utah there are representations of beehives everywhere. Some things were created especially for the show, other items were 'found': they range from the beautiful to the . bizarre. The beehives were found in quilts, neon signs, gravestones, lapel pins, shoulder patches, fire hydrants, newel posts, pop bottles, and sidewalks. The myriad of wonderful beehives in Utah may or may not outnumber other state's keystones, poppies, potatoes, and lone stars, but they are certainly a joy to see. Beehives are everywhere in Utah. The Traveling Exhibition Program Pro-gram is a statewide outreach service ser-vice of the Utah Arts Council.
