Show Page Four - The ' Springville Herald - July R, 1982 Class Holds reunion The graduation class of 1932 of Springville High School held their 50th Anniversary at the Provo Elks Lodge on June 18. Verl Whiting, senior class president, gave the address of welcome. Gordon Peirce acted as Toastmaster. John Patrick gave a short talk, "Friends Through the Years". Fred Sumsion, chairman of the committee, com-mittee, who worked on organization for the reunion, told of the important im-portant happenings in scientific research, art, communication, travel, politics, social reforms, etc. More progress has been made during this time than any other SO years of history, he concluded. The committee for the reunion consisted of Verl Whiting, general chairman ; Fred Sumsion, activity and publicity chairman; John Patrick, finances; Mildred Giles, secretary and correspondent; Melva Houston, guests and arrangements; Lillian Crandall, social hour and food; and Gordon Peirce, program. Guests for the evening were: Paul Thorn, former coach at the high school and Mrs. Thorn; Mrs. E E. Knudsen, wife of Mr. Knudsen who was principal prin-cipal at the high school when the class graduated. Letters were read from f "as- iTVia -am Cindee Deros, Paul B. Huff : Plprnc in apH Huff Friday Cindee Deros, daughter of Richard and Gloria Cordova of Salt Lake City and Roy and Lynne Deros of Modesto, Calif., will marry Paul B. Huff, son of Fred C. and Jeannine Huff of Springville, on Friday July 9 at the Kolob Stake Center. A reception will honor the couple from 8 to 10 that evening at the same location. Friends and relatives are invited to attend. Attending the bride will be Wendy Cazier as maid of , honor; Wendy Bennion, Leslie Llewelyn, Lisa Neihart, Rexie Cooper as bridesmaids. Erin Huff will be the flowergirl. Rico Cordova will be the ring bearer. Brent Bird will be the bestman with Kent Huff, Craig Huff, Paul Jones, Mark Jones as ushers. Special guests will be Elsie Maze of Salt Lake City, grandmother of the bride; Mackie and Francee Lente of Eugene Ore., uncle and aunt of the bride; grandparents grand-parents of the groom, Mr. and Mrs. Mark Huff of Lake Shore, Utah and Mrs. Clara Peden of Provo Melva Peterson of Provo. Prenuptial parties were given by Lisa Neihart. The bride-elect is a graduate of Kearns High School. She attended Modesto Junior College. The groom is a graduate of Springville High School, where he was active in sports. He attended Snow College. The couple will make their home in Orem. Tom Phillips, Rex Slitherlan, Pearl Cox Wilkerson, May Sund-blom Sund-blom Peterson, Robert Ellett, LaPreal Goates Hogan, Virga Bartholomew Bar-tholomew Asay, and Reid Nielson, and other names were given of people who had called to say they would not be able to attend. at-tend. There were 53 class mates in attendance (75 percent). Nineteen are deceased. A pause with a moment's silence paid respect to these honored classmates. Class members participated par-ticipated in the program by giving a short experience ex-perience that happened during the tenure of high school that was of serious or humorous import in their lives. Hitchcock - Bona to exchange vows Ralph and Deon Hitchcock of Springville have announced the engagement of their daughter, Rachelle, to Todd Bona, son of Joe and Pat Bona of Payson, Utah. The couple plan to be married on Friday, July 9. A reception in honor of the couple will be held at the home of the bride's parents, 678 S. 200 East in Springville. In case of inclement weather, the reception will be held in the 14th Ward Relief Society room, 451 S. Main St., Springville. The bride-to-be is a graduate of Springville High School and LDS Seminary. Murphy - Slaughter to marry Saturday Bill and Pat Murphy Slaughter of Spokane, Wash, have announced the engagement of their daughter, Glenna Mashell Murphy, to Bradley Ross Diamond, son of Ross and Betty Diamond of Salem, Utah and Mary Diamond of Mapleton. The couple plan to be married on Saturday, July 10 at 11 a.m. at 31 West Maple in Mapleton. The ceremony will be conducted by Bishop Blaine Houtz. A reception honoring the couple will be held that evening, from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the same location. The couple plan to make their home in Springville. The bride-to-be has been working in Spokane, Wash. She attended school in New York and in areas of Utah. The prospective groom is currently employed in Provo and at Ann Siesta Villa in Springville. He is a graduate of Springville High School. All friends and neighbors are invited to attend. Ward plans outing The Springville 10th Ward is making plans for their 27th birthday celebration. This annual event marking the formation of the 10th Ward will once again . be held at the Kiwanis fireplace in Kelley's Grove on Tuesday, July 13 at 6 p.m. A barbeque supper will be served and an entertaining en-tertaining program is planned. Ward members are encouraged to bring their own dishes and enjoy a meal and the company of their ward friends. The bride-to-be will graduate from Springville High School in 1983. She is currently employed in Springville. The prospective groom is a graduate of Timpview High School in Orem and is currently employed in Orem. A wedding breakfast will be hosted by the groom's grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Walter Hedquist, at the Oakcrest Inn on the day of the wedding. Special guests will be the grandparents of the groom and grandparents of the bride as previously mentioned and Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Mitchell.
