ICivjanis hosts 170 at state dinner Approximately 170 Kiwanis Club members and partners attended the Springville Club's Utah State Inter-Club banquet at the Art Museum, Thursday April 22. Leland Bird served as toastmaster for the occasion. oc-casion. Special guests included Lt. Governor Dwaine Herbert and his wife, from Orem: Yvonne Johnson and husband LaRell Johnson: artist Mirian Mitchell and her husband; and Art Curator Verne Swanson. and wife. Other guests were Michelle Smoot, Provo City aueen. Carol Naranjo, art queen, with her attendants Maralee Bate, and Rhonda Weight. Miss Smoot and Miss Naranjo entertained the group with vocal solos. Yvonne Johnson. chairwoman for the Art Board of Sprineville. spoke to the gathering, tracing the history of the art . movement in Springville since its beginning in 1922. She related many instances occurring over the years. , She praised the com-; munity and the service clubs for their support of the art Museum which has helped its growth to, its present state. Two paintings were; contributed during the evening by Bert Fullmer, vice-president of the clubv, ' and Miriam Mitchell, a ; local artist. These; paintings were won as; attendance prizes by" Debbie Williams of' Springville and Dennis '. Fugal of Pleasant Grove. " Springville Kiwanis club made a contribution to the Art Museum of $200 as a beginning of a project to erect a Marquee at the entrance to the Art Museum. Swanson spoke briefly of, plans for continued im-, provements to the Museum and expressed appreciation for the gift from the Kiwanis Club. nergy confab David Oyler, president of the Central Utah Chapter of the American Society for Public Ad ministration, announced today that a conference on energy impact sponsored by A.S.P.A. will be held on Thursday, May 6. 1982. The con ference events will take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Holiday Inn, 1460 South University Ave., Provo, Utah. The cost of $10 per person includes luncheon. The program of speakers, panelists and a workshop is designed to neip incorporate enerev decisions into all facets of local governmental operations. Using the theme of Projecting and Planning for Energy Imnart nn Local Governments in Utah," the conference promises to be an exciting event. Speakers and panel moderators include deputy Lieutenant Governor Brad Hain-sworth; Hain-sworth; Reed Searle, Governmental Relations Manager for IPP; Dr. William Timmins. Graduate School of Mangement at BYU; Hershel Hester III Executive Director of Utah League of Cities and Towns; and John Tanner, Executive Director for Utah Association of Counties. Topics of the conference include: "Promise and Problems of Energy Growth in Utah"; "How Communities can Plan for Energy's Impact on Local Government"; "The Nuts and Bolts of Human Resources Planning"; "Big Power, Big Energy, Big Growth, Big Opportunites"; and "How to Get from Here to There on a Cost Effective Ef-fective Basis." Olyer noted that several dozen local government agencies are expected to be represented at the conference. con-ference.
