"I started making dolls for my two daughters, then people started asking me to make dolls greetings of the Season May your holidays be like the Christmas flower: Bountiful, bright and beautiful! NORM AND BETTY SUTH PIONEER CENTER 391 No. Main Springville on special order," she explained. "I have made several throughout the year and have made about 20 since the first of December." Mrs. Tucker began by using standard doll patterns, but now modifies them to her own preferences. She has collected several patterns and several people bring her information about where to find unusual ones. Her patterns include in-clude dolls made from girls' anklets, long legged dolls made of broadcloth, and baby dolls made of knit fabrics. Perhaps the most distinguishing things about Alauna's dolls are the faces. She takes time to make each one individual in-dividual and expressive. Features are em-boidered, em-boidered, painted, ap- pliqued or a combination of these techniques. Emboidered eyes may have black pupils and irises colored to match the eyes of the child who will own the doll. An outstanding feature on some dolls is the eyelashes which are looped then stiffened to retain the side-eyed look. Yarn hair may be straight, looped or crocheted. "I think the small sock doll is the most popular," remarded Mrs. Tucker. She has sold more of this style than any other. Each of the several sizes and styles takes about 10 hours to complete. She sells the dolls in a local florist shop, as well as through individual orders. or-ders. "I do it mostly for fun. I enjoy creating new dolls," she said. Police docket m !. Mil!
