Show Page Two - The Springville Herald - May here entertrinmeiit Art City Days play readied "Down To Earth" is one of the most entertaining en-tertaining comedies to be produced by The Springville Playhouse report directors and cast members working on the upcoming three-act comedy fantasy. "The play, presented here previously some 15 years ago, is one of the best because it requires no effort on the part of the audience for them to completely enjoy it." Rehearsals are gaining momentum as the production deadline nears by a cast with parts being portrayed by some of the most talented and versatile ver-satile thespians of the Springville Playhouse. Being produced as part of the Art City Days annual celebration, this year's presentation format has been changed from the past years' scheduling. The play will open this year on Monday, Mon-day, June 4 and continue Tuesday, June 5 and then play again on Friday and Saturday, June 8, and 9. This will allow patrons to attend other celebration activities on Wednesday and Thursday. Curtain . JAKE Marring H 17, 1979 there Quilts for show due Tuesday, May 22 is the last day for entries to be submitted for the annual Quilt and Fiber Show to be presented by the Springville Museum of Art in conjunction with Art City Days. The show will run from June 1 through July 1, and will feature over $500 in prizes to be awarded at the discretion of the judging panel. Entries may be taken to the museuri during its hours: 10a.m. to9p.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, Wed-nesdays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursdays through Saturdays, and 2 to 5 p.m. on Sundays. The works should be brought in large plastic bags. In order to facilitate hanging the quilts, each entry should have five 3" by 2" cloth tabs sewn to the top edge of the quilt. The play, written by George Bernard Shaw and directed by Tad Z. Danielewski, will open May 31 at 8 p.m. in the Harris Fine Arts Center Pardoe Drama Theater. Shaw, who wrote the play in 1923, three years Robert Ames, son of .Mr. and Mrs. Levi Ames of Springville, has been called to serve in the Texas, Houston I.DS Mission. He will be honored at a farewell on May 20 at 3 p.m. in the Springville North Stake Center, I001 Kast 100 North. Kldrr Ames will enter the MTC on Mav 24. Don M. Hadley, son of Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Hadley, has been called to serve in the Guatemala Quet-zaltenango Quet-zaltenango LDS mission. Art City Days promoted Miss Springville, Andrea An-drea Fazzi and her attendant at-tendant Christie Bartlett were recently presented to the Provo City commission, com-mission, the purpose of their visit was to invite the Commission to attend and participate in Art City Days. The Commission Com-mission accepted the invitation and indicated that Provo would have a float in the Art City Days parade on June 9. The part of Joan is triple cast in this production. The part will be played by Anne MacMillan, Diedre Leach and Peggy Petersen. Other cast members include Peter Brunt as The Dauphin (Charles); David Nelson as Warwick; War-wick; Tom Rogers as Cauchon, the Bishop; and Tim Eisenhart as The Inquisitor. Danielewski, an Emmy winning director, teaches classes in film appreciation ap-preciation and is in charge of the professional workshops in acting, directing and writing. His most recent productions at BYU were "Caine Mutiny Court - Martial" and "Travesties." He is a voting member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (Oscars). Tickets for "Saint Joan" will go on sale May 21 in the Harris Fine Arts Center Theater Ticket Office. The production will be performed at 8 p.m. on May 31 and June 1-2, 5-9, and 12-16. A special matinee performance per-formance " will be presented June 11 at 4:30 p.m. Nielson on BYU musical tour A Springville musician is entertaining audiences in the United States and Eastern Canada April 27 -May 23 as a member of Brigham Young University's Philharmonic Philhar-monic Orchestra. Lee Roy Nielson, son of Mrs. Russell Nielson, 190 N. 200 East? Springville, is performing in 19 cities from Denver to Montreal as one of BYU's 88 orchestral or-chestral musicians. Nielson, . a 1973 graduate of Springville High School, is currently a graduate assistant director of brass chamber music at BYU. The music education major is playing lead trombone with the orchestra as it conducts its month - long tour. Throughout its eastern tour, the BYU Philharmonic Philhar-monic Orchestra is performing both classical and contemporary orchestral or-chestral pieces. The Iff HS sets pre-tour concert The Springville High .School Music Department will present the Stage Band and the "Hi's" in a pre-tour concert Friday. May 18, at 7:30 p.m. in the high school auditorium. The groups directed by Karl Barton and Bryan Tobler, will present the numbers they will be performing on a tour of California. Last year, a recording of the orchestra was chosen from tapes representing numerous universities from across the nation to air over National Public Radio. The Philharmonic Orchestra tours abroad or in the United States approximately ap-proximately every two years. In 1977 the group toured Western Canada. Immunization clinics to be held locally The fourth Tuesday of each month, the City and County Health Department Depart-ment sponsors an immunization im-munization clinic held at the Senior Citizens Center, 65 E. 2nd South, Springville, between 2 and 4:30 p.m. Clinics scheduled in the near future will be on May 22 and June 26.
