"Powder and the Bugaboos," "Innsbrook Olympics," and "Gar-mish "Gar-mish 78" will be shown from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. A native of France, Jalbert brings an extensive ex-tensive sport-oriented background to his profession as a filmmaker. film-maker. Following a lifelong involvement in international competitive ski racing, Jalbert was introduced to the motion picture industry when Robert Redford asked him to serve as technical director for the film "Downhill Racer." "We approached the Olympic skiing team and told them we needed someone who could ski and hold a camera at the same time," Redford recalls. "Joe Jay was willing to try, although he'd never had any experience ex-perience with a motion-picture motion-picture camera before." The production crew was pleased with Jalbert's footage and at the completion of "Downhill Racer," Redford encouraged Jalbert to think seriously about going into film production business. Since that time, Jalbert has produced and directed over two dozen major motion pictures of the action-entertainment variety. He is known for his willingness to try risky and unconventional methods to obtain the most startling action photography possible. I addition to receiving an Emmy Award for Best Cinematography, Jalbert's films have captured awards at the Chicago International Film Festival, Atlanta Film Festival, Virgin Island International Film Festival and the International In-ternational Ski Film Festival. mwmmmmmm. w...i--c 1 . Snowmobiling, long a favorite winter sport of area residents, will be a big part of the second annual Rocky Mountain Ski & Winter sports Show, scheduled for November 2 thru 5 in the Salt Palace Exhibit Hall. An exciting live indoor snowmobile show will be a daily feature, with spectacular snowmobile stunts and jumps per formed from ramps. Steve Rowland, and experienced snowmobiler and owner of Pinetop Turf & Trail, will perform the stunts, demonstrating the amazing versatility of the snowmobile. Other exciting events at the four day extravaganza ex-travaganza include live freestyle ski exhibitions from a huge indoor ski ramp, featuring double somersaults, back flips, ski ballet and comedy routines, under the direction of Park City ski great Bob Theobald; daily winter fashion shows; ski movies and door prizes. Of special interest to bargin hunters is the gigantic Ski Swap, with thousands of ski equipment equip-ment bargins. Used skies, Ixiots. poles and other items are offered for sale at incredibly low bargain prices. The Ski Swap is also a great way to sell used equipment. Many manufacturers, distributors and retailers will display their wares, with equipment, fashions and accessories for snowmobiling, skiing, hockey, recreational vehicles and other winter sports. Also, numerous area ski resorts will have information booths with special discount season tickets available for sale at the show. Show times in the Salt Palace are as follows: Thursday & Friday (November 2& 3) from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m., Saturday (November 4) from 12 noon to 11 p.m. and Sunday (November 5) from 12 noon to 8 p.m. Admission is $2.50 for adults, $150 ages 7 thru 12, with children age 6 and under admitted free of charge. Special discount coupons good for 50 cents off all prices are available from many participating merchants. Morgan F. Schouten, who resides with his wife. Amy Lou, and their six-month-old son, Cody Jon, at 245 North 1200 East, Mapleton entered the Air Force's Delayed Enlistment Program on September 30. The recruiter is TSgt Neal Westwood of the Provo Air Force Recruiting Office located at 348 West Center Street. Morgan is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ron Schouten of Springville. He is a 1972 graduate of Springville High School, and has attended Brigham Young University and Utah Technical College. His Active duty will begin on March 13, 1979.
