Cynthia Jean James James, Lambert wed in Temple ceremony Cynthia Jean James became the bride of T. Allen Lambert in a ceremony performed Tuesday, August 29, by Elder Paul H. Dunn in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Tem-ple. Mr. and Mrs. Leonard James of Springville are parents of the bride. The goom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Theron M. Lambert of Claremont, Calif. After the ceremony, the newlyweds were honored at a wedding luncheon hosted by the groom's family at the Grandmother's House Inn. In the evening the couple cou-ple were honored at a garden reception given by the bride's parents in Salt Lake City. The bride is a graduate of Springville High School. She received her B.S. degree from BYU in Elementary Education and Child Development, and has recently completed her master's degree at the University of Utah. She has been teaching first grade in Salt Lake. The groom filled a mission for the LDS. Church in Switzerland. He graduated from BYU and earned his master's degree at Washington University in St. Louis. He has done graduate work toward his Ph. D. at Washington University and also at Cornell University. The couple plan to make their first home in Ithaca, New York while he continues his studies at Cornell University. The street dress she is wearing won a blue ribbon. Bonny is also displaying another of her award-winning dresses. Bonny Giacomo, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Giacomo, received four blue ribbons, rib-bons, and one red ribbon at the Utah County Fair. The blue ribbons were received on a wool plaid pant suit, 100 percent wool coat, a black knit pant suit and a three-piece three-piece street dress. Joan of Arc was born in Domremy, Lorraine, which at the time of her birth was not a part of France. A' NOTICE OF SPECIAL LOW RATE FOR UTAH POWER & LIGHT COMPANY CUSTOMERS AND OVER APPLICABLE TO THEIR PRIMARY RESIDENCE IN THE STATE OF UTAH The Public Service Commission of Utah in their Order effective August 18, 1978, exempted residential customers age 65 or over who are head of household from the increase in rates authorized August 17, 1978, for the first 400 kilowatt hours used on or after September 16, 1978, pro-rated on a 30-day billing period. In order to qualify for this exemption (which begins September 16), such customers must provide Utah Power & Light Company with a "Certificate of Age and Eligibility," notarized by a commissioned Notary Public of the State of Utah. This information, along with certificate forms, is being mailed to all residential customers with their bills for service beginning about August 24, or may be obtained at any office of Utah Power & Light Company beginning about August 25. Upon receipt of the completed certificate form at a Utah Power & Light Company office, qualifying customers will be exempted from the rate increase on the first 400 kilowatt hours during each billing period. DQtalD poilDEl1 II AND LIGHT COMPANY ; Altrusa" , members reminded of goa The Altrusa Club of Provo enjoyed a very productive meeting, Saturday, August 26, at the Holiday Inn. Conducted by President Lana Brown, club members were instructed, in-structed, and reminded of their aims and goals, basically to help other women throughout the world. Altrusa is a club dedicated to the support of our local community first, the district second, and next the international unit. With 20,000 members mem-bers throughout the world, Altrusa has clubs in 13 nations, Europe, Asia, North and South America, India, Etc. With the theme, "Encounters of the Best Kind," a rocket ship was chosen to emphasize how all encompassing contacts con-tacts are with the rest of the world. With almost 30 members present and each presenting a part of the rocket, explaining her duties and participation par-ticipation in the projects of the club, new members became more aware of the importance of the program. Since January of this year, more than 300 hours have been given by members as tutors in the Asian Refugee program, both in evening school with children, and in the homes with families, with the aim of making better citizens and friends of these people who find themselves uprooted from their own land, having to flee and make a new life in a completely foreign environment. Most have made remarkable adjustments to the American way of life' holding jobs and supporting themselves against difficult odds. Looking forward, Altrusa is making plans to attend the District 10 conference at Pueblo, Colo, involving clubs from Utah, Colorado, Wyoming, and New Mexico to be held October 5-8. At least half of the Provo members plan to attend. Some used to believe that mistletoe rods point to gold. r y Tri-regional fireside set Tyler James Butterfus celebrated his first birthday August 6. Explorers' Bible study begins soon All interested ladies are cordially invited to the Explorers' Bible Study beginning fall classes Thrusday, Semptember 14, at 9:30 a.m. at the Provo Community Church, 175 N. University Avenue in Provo. This course is a well organized five-year Bible Study prepared by Mrs. Thomas Constance of Salt Lake City. Mrs. Constance Con-stance is a graduate of Nyack College, Nyack, New York. Mrs. George Culbert-son, Culbert-son, of Spanish Fork, is the lecturer for the Provo class. The Young-Adult Relief Society presents a tri-regional tri-regional Fireside Saturday, September 2 at 8 p.m., at the Salem Stake Center (located on Main Street). Invited are the Springville, Spanish Fork, and Payson regions, including young women from ages 18 to 25. Also invited are Stake Relief Society Leaders, and mothers of the girls are welcome. The theme of the evening will be "The Circle of a Women's Reach," which is also the title of the ( song which young adult sisters from Spanish Fork region will sing. The invited guest speaker is Scott Anderson, An-derson, from Salt Lake City. Brother Anderson teaches LDS Seminary at Bountiful High School, and he writes for the Church correlation committee. He has received a master's degree in counseling, and speaks frequently at youth conferences. Refreshments will be served. Contact your ward leaders for transportation. tran-sportation.
