Seniors learn to weave rugs With a Diamond rwg, pendant or ear rings We have a great selection of stones for mounting Shop Our Many Fine Gift Suggestions Duke Jewelry 220 South Main Springville 7 Twelve years ago, the Springville-Mapleton Senior Citizens purchased a rug loom, as another craft project for Senior Citizens to learn and enjoy. It was one interesting in-teresting new venture. Very few people had ever made their own throw rugs from new or old material. Lois Clegg and Gwen Tippetts undertook the task of learning (by trial and error) how the loom was warped, and how to use it, in order to teach others. Nellie Bertelson later helped when Lois became ill, and unable to continue. After a few years we acquired the use of another loom, making it possible for two people to weave at the same time. These two looms have been in constant use ever since. Hundreds of rugs have been made, and are still being made, by members of the organization. To be able to learn something new, and produce something useful has given many older people a real sense of satisfaction. Of necessity the use of these looms has to be by appointment. Gwen Tippetts has charge of this activity, and welcome any senior citizens who would like to learn to weave. The cost is only the cost of the warp used. Use of the looms and instruction are free. i J" Kevin Howard An-tonino An-tonino was one year old on Jan. 24. He is the son of Gary and Lynette T. Antonino and has a brother Jared who is two.
