Allatate Life Insurance Company Father succumbs James Grant Rowley, (16, of Kureka died Monday, Jan. 31, 1977 a! his home in Eureka after a brief illness. He was born March 13, 1910 in Goshen, a son of Arthur William and Myrtle Steel Rowley. He married Veva Neff, in January, 1973, in Idaho. She died Sept. 16, 1975. He was educated in the Tintic schools and worked in various mines in the Eureka area until I960 when he moved to Pouslbro, Wash. While in Washington he worked for the Beremerlon Ship Yard. He retired in 1972 and moved back to Eureka. He was a member of the LDS Church and alsoa member of the Eagles Lodge. Survivors include one son, James Edwin Rowley of Eureka; seven grandchildren; one brother and 4 sisters, Mrs. Herb (Ruby) Rigoni, Sun City, Ariz.; Mrs. James (Louise) Shepherd, Mapleton; Mrs. Vern (Garnet) Hunt, Kingston, Wash.; Mrs. Jay (Faye) Shepherd, Springville, and Robert Rowley, Eureka. Funeral services will be Friday at 1 p.m. in the Eureka LDS Ward Capel. Friends may call at the Walker Mortuary in Fayson, 587 S. 100 W., Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday prior to the services at the ward chapel in Eureka. ffilrituarua Benjamin Baker burial here Benjamin L. Baker, 17, ol Cumberland, died of a sudden illness Thursday, Jan. 27, 1977 al his home. Benjamin was born in I'rovo on July 24, 1959, a son of Thomas C. and Glcnicc Lamb Baker He was a priest in the l.l)S Church and played the piano and organ for the ward. He was a student at Allegheny High School. Survivors include his parents, three brothers and one sister, Dan, Nathan, and Matthew Baker, all of Cumberland; Cum-berland; Mrs. Clay (Cheryl Ann) Crockett, Phoenix; grandparents, Mrs. Beth Baker and Mrs. Reah Lamb, Salt Lake City, and Mrs. Jennie Anderson, Fountain Green, Sanpete County. Funeral services were Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Sunset Second Ward Chapel, 131 S. 16(H) W. Frovo. Burial was in Springville Evergreen Cemetery. Mapleton lady dies of old age Emily G. Smith, 84, Mapleton, died of causes incident to age on Sunday, Jan. 30, 1977 at a Provo hospital. She was born Feb. 1, 1892, at Philadelphia, Pa., to Thomas and Alice Guan. She married John Russell Smith on Jan. 20, 1917 at Philadelphia. He died in 1972. She lived in Flourtown, Pa., until 1972 when she moved to Mapleton. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Herbert K. (Thelma) Miner, Mapleton, and Mrs. Charles (Emily Jane) Bartlett, Wilmington, Calif.; seven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services and burial were in Philidelphia. It would be well if more gunners refrained from doing what the crowd does simply because the crowd does it. Ferris baby boy dies of crib death syndrome Shilo Ferris, 7 month old son of Marion L. and Diane Ratos Ferris died Tuesday, Feb. 1, 1977, at his home of infant crib death syndrome. He was born July 27, 1976 at Provo, Utah. Surviving are parents of Springville; one brother and one sister, Jeremey and Camille; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Ratos and Mr. and Mrs. LaVar Ferris all of Springville; great grandparents, Mrs. Mary Ratos of Springville and Mrs. Grace Ewell of Santaquin. Funeral services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. in the Wheeler Mortuary chapel in Springville where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Springville City Cemetery. Mother dies Alice Edwell Chadwick, 81, of American Fork, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 1977 in the American Fork Hospital of cause incident to age. She was born March 25, 1895 in Spring Glen, Carbon County, a daughter of Franklin Marion and Kate Thompson Ewell. She married Alfred Chadwick on Jan. 26, 1921 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, and he died Nov. 23. 1946. Mrs. Chadwick was active in the LDS Church, serving as a Relief Society and Sunday School teacher. Survivors include three sons and three daughters, Ewell Chadwick, Layton; Thomas Chadwick, Mrs. Donald (Phyllis) Christen and Mrs. Daryl (Joyce) Withers, all of American Fork; John Chadwick, Chad-wick, Ogden; Mrs. N. J. (Elaine) Campbell, Mapleton; 22 grandchildren; 44 greatgrandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Dorothy Bonnett, San Francisco. Funeral services were Friday in American Fork. Burial was in American Fork Cemetery. Sister dies Mapleton Lions set public hearing on phone service Mary E. "Macy" McFadden Payne, 83, died of a lingering illness Saturday, Jan. 29, 1977 in Long Beach. She had been a resident of Provo for many years and was the sister of Robert J. McFadden of Provo and Theron M. McFadden Mc-Fadden of Springville. Mrs. Payne was born Feb. 8, 1894 in Chester County, S C. to Samuel D. and Nettie Kiser McFadden. She married Frederick John Payne on July 29, 1920 in Farmington, Davis County, and he died March 17, 1945 in Long Beach. The Mapleton Lions Club is sponsoring a special public meeting Thursday, February 3, at 7:30 p.m. to explain Mountain Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Fayne Payne Taylor, Lakewood, Calif.; four grandchildren; two brothers and one sister, Robert J. McFadden, Provo; Theron M. McFadden, Springville, and Mrs. Lois Gardner, Gustina, Calif. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. in the Long Beach LDS First Ward Chapel. Bell's new Extended Area Service. The meeting will be held at the Mapleton City offices, 35 E. Maple. Extended Area Service will go into effect throughout Utah County at midnight, February 5. Mr. Garth Boyce, District Network Manager for Mountain Bell, will make a presentation explaining how the expanded calling area will effect Springville and Mapleton customers. Mr. Boyce will also discuss telephone legislation currently pending before Congress which could have an important impact on telephone service in Utah. A question and answer session will follow the presentation. On Tuesday, February 15, the Kolob-Mapleton Young Adults will have an All-Star game between the two divisions. Ten players will be chosen by the teams themselves to represent each of the two divisions in this game. All-Star coaches will also be selected to head each team. W;e invite all persons interested to attend this contest.
