Lehi was somewhat erratic in the fourth quarter with turnovers tur-novers against a full court press and were outscored by two points. But the Pioneers had leads of 19 points (66-74, 72-53, 74-55) 74-55) several times in the final period and could afford a little bit of a lapse. The Pioneers have now won three games without a loss on the road in league action and Springville has yet to win at home all season. Springville won an impressive game at Carbon in overtime but the momentum just didn't carry over into the Lehi contest. The Pioneers had suffered a total collapse against American Fork but rebounded very well with an aggressive, hustling effort against the Red Devils. Gary Jolley led the charge with 23 points as Springville defenders found that if you give him an inch he'll usually score. Juniors Chip Atkinson and Ev Soares added 18 and 12 points to the attack. Chris Miller was high for Springville with 13 and guards Rich Thorn and John North contributed 11 and 10 but the Red Devils couldn't seem to get untracked. If there was anything to be happy about for Springville it was the play of reserves Doug Bills, Jay Baxter and Jerry Holdaway, who combined for 24 points, most of them in the second half. Bills was especially impressive with his boundless energy and determination. A crucial point in the game for Springville came early in the second quarter with Lehi holding a 21-14 lead. A steal and layup by North accounted for one basket.
