Show July 27, 1972 The Springville Herald Page Nine OBITUARIES Father of two residents dies Funeral services were held Saturday at the Berg Mortuary in Provo for Leo Franklin Thurman, 91, Provo, who died July 19, 1972 at the Lil Haven Rest Home in Provo of causes incident to age. He was the father of Mrs. Lyle T. Childs and Mrs. Byron (Helen) Pace, both of this city. . He was born April 25, 1881 in Provo, a son of Thomas Edward and Alice Rebecca Miller. Ronald Barker, 53, a former resident of Springville, who died Thursday, July 20, 1972, at Eagle Point, Oreg. Born in Springville, January 1, 1919, he was a son of John T. and Hannah Allan Barker. He married Rosetta Ferris, March 23, 1940. She died in 1956. He was a long time employee at the Tooele Ordinance depot and served in World War II, in the Navy overseas. Survivors are: four daughters; Mrs. Ralph (Gloria Jean) Sackett, California; Mrs. Norman (Rose Ann) Stephens, Eagle Point, Ore.; Mrs. Joe (Alana) Taimina, Fresno, Calif., and Tawny Barker, address unknown; also brothers, Leo Barker, Layton; Allan Barker, Havasu City, Ariz., Paul Barker, Burlington, Mass.; Russell Barker, Syracuse, Utah; sisters, Mrs. Tadd (Mildred) Giles, Springville; Mrs. A. C. (Bertha) Billings, American Fork; Mrs. Vernon (Leona) Jensen, Port Townsend, Wash. Question Several years ago I elected to receive benefits under the new pension law when I exceeded the $1,600 annual income in-come limitation, resulting in termination of benefits under the old pension law. Now that income in-come limitations under the old law have increased, can I go back to drawing pension under the old law? Answer No. Once a pensioner has chosen benefits under the new law, he cannot go back to the old law. BeardaU Services held here for Alvin Beardall Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 25, in the First Twelefth ward, for Alvin Romanzo Beardall, 81, 487 East 900 South, who died Friday, July 21, 1972, at Utah Valley Hospital, of a long illiness. Burial was in the Evergreen cemetery, directed by Wheeler Mortuary. Mr. Beardall was born Dec. 14, 1890 in Springville to William Henry and Clara Viola Packard Beardall. - He married Sarah Leota Scott Dec. 1, 1909 in the Salt Lake IDS Temple. She died on July 9, 1963, Mr. Beardall was a member of the LDS Church and had served as a stake mission 34 months. He was secretary of the High Priest Quorum 25 years. He had worked as a butcher and dog catcher for Springville City, and as custodian of the Memorial Hall for the Senior Citizens. Surviving are five sons and five daughters: Mrs. Laurel (Dorotha) Cook, Sandy; Ray Alvin Beardall, Santa Rosa, Calif.; Oran Leon Beardall, Provo; Mrs. Leola Hazel, Mrs. Heber (Leota) Cox, Scott LeRoy Beardall, Mrs. Lloyd (Ida) Tolbert, and Melvin P. Former Mapleton resident dies Funeral services for Lula Mae Llewellyn Whiting, 89, Rupert, Idaho, who died July 16, 1972 at her home of a sudden illness, were held Wednesday in Rupert, She was the sister of Leo Llewellyn and Mrs. Ella Curtis both of this city. ' She was born March 19, 1881 in Fountain Green to William Ruse and Sarah Elizabeth Holman Llewellyn. She married Ray Whiting on March 11, 1902 in Mapleton and he died March 7, 1972. She was a member of the LDS Church. Survivors include five sons and four daughters, 31 grandchildren, grand-children, 62 greatgrandchildren, great-grandchildren, two brothers and two sisters. Burial was in the Rupert Cemetery. Former resident dies on coast Funeral services were held Saturday, July 22, in Cupertino, Calif., for Mrs. Lucy Deseret Metcalf, 86, who died July 19, 1972, Burial was at Smiley Heights Cemetery, Redlands, Calif.. Mrs. Metcalf was the mothr of Mrs. Leo (Utahna) Felix of this city and had visited here often. She was born on March 2, 1886 in Mapleton to Amos Benoni and Caroline Fullmer Warren. She married Levi Gregory Metcalf in April of 1905 and they lived in Mapleton, and Springville a number of years. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. He died in September Sep-tember of 1944. Survivors include sons and daughters: Mrs. Felix. Mrs. Louis (Jane) Grimm, Payson, Mrs. Hal (Claris) Cronkhite, Mrs. John (Maxine) Zvodniack, Mrs. Don (Helen) Bailey, Grant S. Metcalf, Monte E. Metcalf, Blaine H. Metcalf, Warren L. Metcalf, all of California; Greg P. Metcalf, Kennewick, Wash., and a sister in Washington. Redwood Road A native of Springville, Mr. Hall was born Sept. 28, 1919 to toUa JindL Emma Brockbank Hall. He married Lila 'Ann: Butler on Oct. 22, 1941 in Spring . Lake. Mr. Hall worked for Aire-Flo Heating and Electric Co. as a sheet metalist. He was a member of the LDS Church.
