Show , imwwwwwwwwwni OBIT UARIE ........ Former resident dies of burns Funeral services were held Monday in Orem for Micheal Kenneth Duke, 22, who died from burns in an Orem fire January 20, 1971. Burial was in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery. He was born March 7, 1948, in Springville, a son of Paul Varley and Elsie Rowena Madsen Duke. He married Linda Eardley in 1967 in Provo; they were later divored. He was a member of the IDS Church in the Rivergrove Second Ward and was a member of the Order of the Arrow in Scouting. A graduate of Provo High School in 1966, lie had served in the U. S. Marine Corps until receiving a medical discharge. Survivors include his parents of Provo; three sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Roger (Pauline) Fisher, San Francisco; Mrs. Roy (Chris) Holt, Orem; Mrs. Hal (Jean) Proter, Ogden; Lyman P. Duke, Provo; Floyd Duke, Springville. Father of local resident dies Funeral services for Dr. Henry Issac Voorhees, 81,-Manti, 81,-Manti, who died January 27, 1971 in the Salt Lake IDS hospital following a stroke, will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Manti South Ward. Mr. Voorhees is the father of Lynn M. Voorhees of this city and grandfather of Mrs. Martin Conover. Friends may call at the Buchanan Mortuary in Manti from 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday prior to the services. He was born Sept. 7, 1889 in Manti, the son of David Issac and Sarah Ann Parson Voorhees. He married Dorothy Aileen Madsen Nov. 7, 1912 in the Manti Temple. He was a veterinarian and sheepman. He is survived by his widow and eight children; 30 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren and a sister in Manti. She was born the previous day, Jan. 21. Survivors include her parents, Springville; Grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. William M. Bowen, Spanish Fork; Mr. and Mrs. Russell Duke, Provo; great-grandparents, great-grandparents, Mrs. Sarah Jane Davis, Springville; Mr. and Mrs. Leo Duke, Provo; Mrs. Cora Atwood, Pleasant Grove. Ex-resident's husband dies Word has been received here of the death of Melvin F. Dalbey 71, husband of the former Leona Sumsion of Springville. He died at their home at Vera Cruz, California of an apparent heart attack January 20, 1971. Funeral services and burial were at Santa Cruz Monday. The Dalbeys have resided in California since their marriage in Salt Lake City Jan. 18, 1930. They had made numerous trips to Utah and Springville to visit relatives. Surviving besides the widow are two sons and two daughters. Adams, regional sales manager, region V, Salt Lake City. In his new duties, Mr. Berry will supervise the development and expansion of sales of USS Agri-Chemicals products to the agricultural and metal mining industries. Headquartered in Salt Lake City, his responsibility area will cover 11 western states and western Nebraska. Born in Moab, Mr. Berry completed his public education at Carbon High School where he won all-state rankings in both football and basketball. After a year's study at Carbon Junior College at Price, he transferred to Brigham Young University, Provo, where he was named all-conference all-conference halfback during his three years there. After graduation from BYU in 1951, Mr. Berry continued in athletics, playing professional football with the San Francisco 49'ers for six years. He joined U. S. Steel's coal chemicals sales organization at Salt Lake City in 1957. As a sales representative, Mr. Berry marketed light oils, tar products, ammonium nitrate, nitric acid and anhydrous ammonia, which are produced at U. S. Steel's Geneva Works near Provo. A native of , Springville, Mr. Dowdell was born Oct. 5, 189$ to Ruben and Phebe Phillips Dowdell. He married Una Graham on Oct. 10, 1929, in Salt Lake City. He was a member of the LDS Church. He had been a locomotive engineer for Ken-necott Ken-necott Copper Corp. until retiring in 1965. He had belonged to the Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Enginemen. Survivors include his widow, Copperton; one brother, Nephi Dowdell, Springville, two sisters, Mrs. Ann Van Tatten and Mrs. Faye Harris, both of Las Vegas, Nevada.
