Tuttle is at the left. The bigger Lion club outshot the Devils to win 57-39 here Friday night. Springville's Red Devil hustlers will be underdogs in their Friday game against the American Fork Cavemen on the latter's floor as they attempt to get into the win column in league play. The Cavemen will hold a height advantage, but the Devils should provide plenty of hustle to help offset the advantage. The game actually should be a close contest if the Devils can sink their inside shots. Tipoff time will be 8 p.m. with the jayvees taking to the hardwoods hard-woods in the 6:15 preliminary. Lions claw Devils Payson Lions, led by the outstanding shooting and ball retrieving of Gary Weight, fought their way to a surprisingly sur-prisingly easy victory over the Red Devils here Friday night 57-39. 57-39. Gary had one less fieldgoal than the entire Springville club, which connected for only 10 in the game and hit an unbelievable un-believable 19 percent from the field which actually spelled the difference in the two teams. The Devils' hustle and ball passing game looked good, but their close-in shots and layup attempts would not drop through and with Payson working the defensive boards to perfection the Devils were just not scorinj Payson led the Devils throughout the entire contest and just when the Devils pulled to within six points of them with Eleventh tops all Kolob teams; play January 20 The Eleventh Ward continues to roll on undeafeated in the Kolob Stake M Men race after having defeated the First Ward 79-62 last week. High scorer for the Eleventh Ward was Farres with 23, Bird, 22; and Boman with 18. For First, Beardall hit 18, Clements 13, Dibbs 13 and Reese 10. Twelfth Ward had an easy time with Mapleton First downing them by the score 94 to 33. High scorers for 12th were Bringhurst with 32, Sayer with 24, Shepard 18 and C. Brid with 10. The last game of the evening was a very close contest all the way with Mapleton Second edging out Mapleton third, 58-57. High scorers for Mapleton 2nd were Allan 19, Hall 15, Hjorth 14, and Wright 10. For Mapleton 3rd, Nielson20, Edmunds 16, and Holdaway with 13. Kelly, an outstanding athlete, came up with nine rebounds and played one of his most steady games. Hi Fliers play Saturday; Eleventh leads Hi Flier games in the Kolob Stake will continue Saturday in the Middle School running from 8 a. m. through 12 noon announces an-nounces Marvin Chrsitiansen. Not a Red Devil hit in double figures for the second game in a row. Smith, who was off his regular game, hit 9; Preston, who likewise was below par, got only 5 and Clyde at center hit 5 for 7 at the charity line and added 1 field goal for 7. Tuttle came up with 5 and played the most consistently of any of the Devils. Hansen, soph center, looked promising and did well. A large gym filled with spectators cheered both sides. The SHS Pep Club presented an interesting halftime using flashlights with their marching. Weight for Payson hit 9 field goals but only connected for 5 of 10 at the foul circle for 23 points to lead the Lions. Score by quarters Springville ' 7 23 32 39 Payson 13 35 43 57 Itegion IV Standings Art City Lanes travel team rolls 1180 score The Art City Lanes men's traveling team bowled an amazing 1180 series in competition com-petition during the past week at the Duke's Lanes in Spanish Fork. The score is reportedly the second highest team score rolled in the country this year. All five men on the team bowled over 200 games during the third game of competition. Members and their high game include Julian Raulston who bowled 258, followed by Dale Reynolds with a 253, Floyd Kimber with a 231, Ken Buys with a 228 and Marty Perrero with a 210. For the three games, three of the five team members had a 600 series. Julian Raulston had a 652 followed by Marty Perrero with 637, and Floyd Kimber at 617. Ken Buys came up with a respectable 590 and (Dale Reynolds a high 586. In ; region Four matches he is un- defeated but tied once. Against Pleasant Grove's leading team, he did an out-'1 standing job pinning his op-i ponent in the first period to give ' Springville its first victory in, match play of the night. He will be a marked wrestler next Tuesday, Jan. 19 when the ' high school wrestling team! competes with the alumni; wrestlers in the high school gym beginning at 7:30. !
