Show Page Four THE SPRINGVILLE (UTAH) HERALD January 1, 1970 Mark Laws note 58th wedding anniversary here Mr. and Mrs. Mark Law, life-long residents of this city, observed their 58th wedding an niversary at their home Mon day, December 29. While they did not have any special observance, they were guests of their son and family at a family dinner at the Glenn Laws during the holidays. They are somewhat limited in their activities due to their health at present. The Laws have been active in church and Mrs. Law is an accomplished pianist having played many years for church and other groups and Individ uals. They are the parents of three sons, Howard, San Jose, Costa Rica, Central America, who in cidentally visited his folks dur ing the Thanksgiving holidays; Dale, who is over Sears in the San Francisco-Phoenix area, and who resides in California; and Glenn of Springville. They have 11 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. s O C I A L VENTS E Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Hunter and family of Cardston, Can' ada, spent the Christmas holl days with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Morrell Hunter here. Mrs. Virginia Simklns Clegg of Salt Lake City, formerly of this city, spent Christmas here with Mrs. Lela Nelson and Mrs Floss Phillips. Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Berrett of Provo, entertained members of the Miles Roach family of Spanish Fork and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Berrett of this city and Mrs. Virginia Clegg of Salt Lake City one day last week. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Oakley will accompany newlyweds, Mr. and Mrs. David Oakley as far as Tempe, Arizona, en route to their home in San Diego, where the Arthur Oakleys will visit with a daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Scow in Tempe. They will remain there, for two weeks. Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Wilson are spending the holidays at their home here from Vancouver, Van-couver, Washington. A Christmas program was en-Joyed en-Joyed with Carol Reed giving two Christmas stories. Christmas Christ-mas Carols were sung, acom-par.ied acom-par.ied by Mary Giles on the guitar. Secret pal gifts were exchanged and names revealed. New names were drawn for the coming year. A visit by Santa was part of the fun time by the members as he gave each a gift. The home was beautifully decorated and a Christmas tree provided the focal point during Santa's visit. Each member was given a filled Christmas stocking stock-ing as a favor. Jacobsen-Peterson wedding highlight of early December Mr. and Mrs. Albert E. Ja-cobsen Ja-cobsen announce the marriage of their daughter, Shirley Ann, to Glenn LeRoy Peterson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank E. Peterson Pe-terson of Spring City. The event took place December 11 in the Salt Lake Temple with President Selvoy J. Boyer officiating. of-ficiating. A reception in the Springville Second Ward Cultural Hall hon ored the couple December 12 and was given by parents of the bride. The couple greeted guests before a gold glittering background, framed on either side with red velvet and white paneling finished with white Austrian draperies. Adding to the setting was a large white flocked tree trimmed with red and gold and the gifts were placed around the tree. Christmas Christ-mas arrangements and candles were used as serving table dec orations as well as on the trousseau tables, which were draped with Austrian draperies, red ribbon and red bows. Mu slcal numbers were furnished duriing the evening by Mrs. Mary Bird, Don Gottfredson and Mr. and Mrs. Marshall Fox. Following the marriage cere mony a wedding breakfast was given toy the groom's parents. Mr. and Mrs. Frank E. Peterson, Peter-son, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Donnell Crowther of Granger. For the wedding reception, the bride wore an Alfred Angela An-gela Original gown with fitted bodice and chapel-length train. The gown was lined with white tafetta overlayed with nylon crystal organza. The scooped neck-line and long pointed sleeves were lined with lace, while the bodice and skirt were designed with appliqued imported import-ed lace trimmed with seeded pearls and beads. Her veil was bride's illusion of silk imported from England, elbow-length with hand rolled edge. Her headpiece was of imported lace trimmed with lilly of the valley and seeded pearls. She carried a large red cat-tleya cat-tleya orchid surrounded with white butterfly roses trimmed with red net iand holly berries tied with white ribbon. The bride was attended by Ann Jacobsen, sister-in-law, as matron of honor; LaWauna Peterson, Pe-terson, Lois Anderson, Deanna Jessie, Nancy McPhie, Susan Lauritzen. Also in the line were Robert Jacobson, Robert Stokes, Leonard Hale, Joe Blain, Tom Bardett all dressed in white dinner jackets and white accessories. Matron honor .wore red embossed satin while the bridesmaids were at - tired in green embossed satin, street-length. Their flowers were jhite muffs trimmed with bold bells and red ribboon. Mothers of the bride and groom wore green delustered satin gowns, with corsages of white miniature roses trimmed with gold net, white ribbon, red berries and gold balls. Best man was Ross Black ham. Greeting guests were Mr. and Mrs. Donnell Crowther, Kaye and Lynne Peterson, Ushers were Stephen Black-ham, Black-ham, Lara Lee Lawrence. Dee Foster and Christy Harris were at the guest .register. Bonnie Whiting and Jammie Laird were in the gift room. Serving were Theresa Barber, Kathy Canto, Diane Peery and Su zanne Taylor. John Jacobsen, Bill Jacobsen land Rick Jacob sen acted as hosts. Wedding cake for the lovely event was three tiered, with pillar separators. Red .roses and gold leaves surrounded the cake. A miniature bride and groom were ascending a suspended sus-pended stairway. The .cake was topped with a replica of the Salt Lake Temple. 'Following a honeymoon in Las Vegas, 'Nevada, the couple returned to Salt Lake City to reside while the groom con tinues his schooling at the University of Utah. A bridal shower was given for the bride-elect by Theresa Barber and Kathy Canto pre ceding the the marriage. Bill AUred is spending hol- liday leave in Spanish Fork with his family and his Darents. Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Miller of California and their family of three are visiting at grandparents, grand-parents, Mr. and Mrs. James F. Miller and other relatives and friends here. "X. Mrs. Douglas Leavitt, nee Marie Bowen Open house set December 30 for Mr., Mrs. Douglas Leavitt An open house will be held this evening, December 30, at Delia's Reception Center, 559 East Center in Spanish Fork, for newlyweds, Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Leavitt, who were married December 27. Friends and relatives are invited in-vited to call between the hours of 7:30 and 9:30 p.m. ' The bride, the former Marie Bowen, is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl L. Bowen of Spanish Fork. Mr. Leavitt's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Porter Leavitt of Mapleton. A graduate of Spanish Fork High School and LDS Seminary, the new bride is presently attending Utah Technical Tech-nical College at Provo. Mr. Leavitt is a graduate of Springville Spring-ville High School and LDS Seminary and is currently serving serv-ing in the Army at Fort Gordon, Georgia. He is home on a two-week leave after which he will report back to his base while his wife will remain with her parents and continue her schooling. Aureole Club holds annual holiday party Helen Wheeler and Mary Schwartz were hostesses at the Aureole Club Christmas party held at Barts. A delicious dinner din-ner was served on a long, decorated dec-orated table and a Christmas tree and fire in the fireplace added - to the festive look. President May Miller was in charge of the annual Christmas party and meeting. Lucille La- ney read the club collect, i -Various card games were en-Joyed en-Joyed b ythec lub following the meal and presents from under the Christmas tree were exchanged ex-changed among the 17 members in attendance. The club decided where and when to meet to wrap the gifts which the club was giving to patients of a rest home as part of their Christmas project. This was the final meeting of the year. Kathryn Naugle, David Oakley marriage planned in temple Friends and relatives are invited to an open house, this evening, December 30, for Kathryn Dorene Naugle and David Arthur Oakley, who are to be married this morning in the Salt Lake Temple. The open house will be held in the Orem lst-24th Ward Hall from eight until ten o'clock. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Naugle of Orem and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Oakley of Springville. The new Mrs. Oakley is a graduate of Orem High School and LDS Seminary and has attended Snow College. Mr. Oakley is a graduate of Springville High School, LDS Seminary and Snow College. He filled a mission to the East-. ern Atlantic States prior to joining the U. S. Navy. He is" stationed at San Diego, California, where the couple will reside while he completes a twelve-week special schooling. - Dr. Oakley Lambson of Red-lands, Red-lands, California and Geralyn Cleive of New Orleans were in Springville at the home of their mother, Sara O. Nielsen, during the time of the death and services for their step-father, Heber L. "Slim" Nielsen.
